Ever since my wife was a kid, she always loved Dirty Dancing. When she found out that a portion was filmed at the restaurant and lodge, she always wanted to go. The nice thing is that we didn't have to be guests of the to eat there. Which made it easy as we were passing through.
First, on a high note, our waitress was absolutely the best. She was friendly and was on top of everything.
As far as the food, this place was a mixed bag for us. My corned beef sandwich was really good with nice cuts of meat. The bread was also nice and buttery. The fries were undercooked where they were nearly raw potatoes and were overly greasy. I tried eating them so as not to take away from my wife's experience or disappoint our stellar waitress. However, my wife, who never complains, was not a fan of the salad and barely touched it. It may have been that it was not her preference of taste, not that there was anything erong in preparation. The fried green tomatoes were interesting. They looked like an art piece. We thought they were mini loaded potato skins, They're not your grandma's fried green tomatoes by any means. These were different, but it wasn't bad. You won't get that crispy breading. If anything, it was very soggy. The sauce was more of a tomato paste taste that was overly dominant. I would use less as it voided out anything else. They also had bacon on it, which was really good, savory, and perfectly cooked. It almost worked, but the sauce was too potent.
The atmosphere feels historic and has a nice charm with it. The guests are spaced out that it feels more spacious. The prices were comparable to most standard restaurants, especially for the service and the atmosphere.
Overall, I'm going to say it was a decent experience with a few quirks. If someone you know loves Dirty Dancing, it's worth a visit. We sat at the same location of...
Read moreHorrible dining experience!!!!!! I don’t even know where to begin. We had only been on property an hour and then came to eat. We were the first and only customers at 11:30 am. We were greeted and the waitress brought us back our drinks. Hubby ordered the bison burger I ordered an angus burger daughter chicken strips. I ordered mine with a gluten free bun. The food comes out within 15 mins and fries are pretty brown over cooked, daughters chicken strips were massive and over cooked, his burger looks great but mine is about 2.5 inches across and 1/4 of an inch thick. I’m estimating it was a 3 oz burger if that, for $16!!!!!!!! See picture use lines on my hand for reference it was small!!! It did not have a gluten free bun so she said she would get in the back and toast it up. I sat for over 10 mins waiting for that bun. We were her only table!!!!! My husband was done with his meal by the time “the Manager” brought it to me. We were done eating but our waitress was then chatting it up with 3 ladies who just came in. Meanwhile we sat for 10 minutes waiting for our ticket so we could leave! There was only two other tables there after us. I had to ask the other waitress if she could please get us our ticket. I honestly think they gave me the child sized burger and if they didn’t this place should be shut down charging that sort of money for a 3 oz or less burger. Ridiculous. Hire better employees too. No one should have to wait that long when there’s no one there. It’s just unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to eat at. The views are amazing and the glassware is nice. That’s the extent of the greatness...
Read moreMosey on over to the Harvest restaurant….allow a few extra minutes to sink into a comfy chair in the lobby and absorb the live music, easy listening on the dial. Feel the neutral tones and stones soften your day and slowww down. You did make reservations, right? You did ask for a view? If you forgot, ask the hostess and you will receive. And now that your hostess went out of her way to accommodate you, go out of yours to savor the view of verdant green and quaint architecture. Appreciate peeling paint with patina and a hint of rust. Reminds us that everything doesn’t have to be perfect to be enjoyed. Review the spirits menu and settle on the strawberry basil margarita, which will completely erase your memory of only six sets of guardrails on the trip up, up, up. Truly an amazing margarita. Basil may be my new favorite herb. Let me repeat…truly an amazing margarita. Frog legs are moist, tender, fried with a kick in the crust. Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese…Southern/Southern combo satisfies. Might as well request two tubs of the most lightly whipped butter ever. And the soft, sink your teeth into them rolls pair well with the butter. So there! Went gaga over the gnocchi with sage butter. Viva vinaigrette on the arugula! So the salmon which was so,so gets a pass. New York Strip flavorful and cooked to order. Room for dessert? Our pleasant and attentive server gently suggests. I don’t think so, but. Stop by the front desk, grab your s’mores ingredients and descend to...
