I was coming in from outta town and my horse needed water. So I says to myself I need to find some where to get somethin to eat and something strong to drink . So I started searching for the nearest place I could find. I came across a farmer named JP. I inquired if he knew of a good place to get somethin to drink and maybe a hot plate of some kind. He says yeah it's a brewery right down the road its hard to miss. I thanked him for his good direction. In about a hour or so I came across what looked like a red barn and I was intrigued. So I got of my horse and made my way toward the red building. When i was finally inside I inquired if this indeed was a brewery like the farmer had said down the road. The woman working behind the counter her name was Alyssa. She said yes it was,I said do you have something strong to drink like I like way out west. She said if I had heard off the cow Belgium. I said in reply i ain't never been to Europe. She then poured me a glass and boy was it mighty dark. After she had poured me a glass I then inquired the name of this place. She said in reply, Rising silo was the name. I then took a swig of that dark beer and I bid her a good day. I then got back on my horse and away I rode. I can say that, that beer was the best I had in fact had in all my years of a...

We have tried three times now, unfortunately customer service and overall attitude of mgmt is subpar at best. All 3 times, it’s as if they are doing us a favor to serve us. Ordered food for my family of four online via the website bcs the line was so long. After an hour, went and asked for an update. Was told our order should be ready soon. After another 30 minutes, went back and was told our order had been canceled bcs they were out of everything. Tried speaking with a manager and she was exceptionally rude and asked “what do you want me to do about it?” At a minimum, we should have been notified. We waited for 90 minutes, thinking our dinner would be coming. I was also charged for the order, so how would I have any indication that they canceled our order? The manager was completely unapologetic and did not understand my frustration. Go for the sunset, skip the food. Beer is decent, but too many other choices to be treated like that. Wasted 2 hours and $70 for 2 beers each for my party of 4, while waiting for food...

Giving this review 2 starts because of the beer. It was good. Had the seltzer and the hazy IPA. Very solid selections. If not for the beer, 0 stars would’ve been my review.

The young woman working the register acted like I was a legitimate crazy person when I asked for the “sib sauce” (it’s supposed to be silo sauce but the person who wrote the menu with a marker had put the “l” and “o” too close together, which made the two letters look like a “b”). The face she made at me made me think I was possibly having a stroke. “Did you mean the silooooooo sauuuceee?” (Whoops my bad) So, I let that slide and ordered beer for my family and an order of fries as well as a pretzel. 6 people in the entire place and our food items never came. I went to pay and said “please don’t charge us for the food, we never got it”. The same girl replied: “ohh yeah your pretzel sat back there for like a really long time and like we had to remake it. Sorry about that”. It had been 25 minutes… how about letting us know that the pretzel was an...

Good people, good food, good beer, good vibes! Rising Silo is such a special place. It's a brewery located on a farm on the edge of Blacksburg--both the beer and food are always fresh and seasonal, you can count on something new, but also dependable standbys. They have a great grassy lawn for lounging and taking in the fresh air and beautiful mountain views. Kids love running around and it's super dog-friendly. Also very much appreciate the variety of non-alcoholic options like their house made sodas, ginger beer, cider, and flavored and unflavored sparkling water. They also started carrying a selection of near beers! And live music!! One of the few places in town with a consistent weekly lineup of live music. We love Rising Silo

There are quite a few breweries here in Blacksburg but Rising Silo was the first one we found open and they did not disappoint. The view driving in was beautiful, a perfect location for some good beer and great food. Wife and I settled on a flight of five. Barn Flower Blonde Ale, Brush Mountain Blonde Ale, Biere De Glade (Belgian Ale), Moo Milk Stout (Chocolate Mint), More Cow Belgian. Barn Flower and Brush Mountain were my top two, but ultimately, the farm fresh cheeseburger was hands down my favorite, right next to the green countryside. Very thankful to have family here in Blacksburg so I will have more opportunities to come here again.

Rising Silo excels at the three things I look for in a restaurant- unique yet comfortable atmosphere, wholesome tasty food, and local beers. The location is a beautiful working farm, with live music of many styles (have seen classic guitar duets, funky evening bands, banjo-infused rock, and high schoolers' rockabilly). The food ingredients are sourced from the farm (and sold from the adjacent stand), prepared into creative formats, and arranged artistically. Great beer with mainstays and 2-3 seasonal rotations. I have my own growler and always bring it. When I'm in the area, I make every effort to make it here!
