Ernie's Tavern and the Double Dip ice cream shop, attached to Ernie's, are must-see places. Both places are owned by a big-time Hollywood movie producer. Both places can only be described as a movie buff's museum. My wife and I both had pulled pork sandwiches with a side of french fries. The sandwiches were described as being smoked pulled pork which arrived with bread & butter pickles. I must say the pickles were the highlight of the two items. My wife and I both felt like the pork was just commercial frozen smoked pork heated up in the kitchen. Can't say much about the fries either. They were a little soggy/limp, but okay. The Cole slaw which came with the sandwiches was a home run. Sorry, we didn't try different items from the menu. If we had, maybe we could have found something better. We will try something different the next time and I'll update this review if need be. Right now, I would say this is more of a lunch place than a dinner place. We had ice cream from the Double Dip shop which is attached to the tavern. The ice cream and the serving sizes were great. Service in both areas was great. All in all the food wasn't much to talk about, but it's still a must-see place because of the movie memorabilia, games, and bowling alley. You will be in awe the moment you walk into either places. I'm giving the food three stars, but a four-star overall review because of the atmosphere and the uniqueness of both Ernie's and...
Read moreThis place has so much potential. My husband and I drove an hour from Louisville to experience this, based on some great reviews. A younger girl was very considerate, but she seemed to be the only one running around doing her best. One cook was working her butt off but still only got 2 tables (of less than 4 people total) food out in the hour+ that we were there. The cooking area seems to be EXTREMELY small, so she was doing her best with what she had. We were told they were understaffed which was clear just by looking around. I feel bad for the workers that showed up today. We were really looking forward to this and now it was a waste of our entire Saturday afternoon. After an hour of not having our food out (apps or entrees) for TWO people, we decided to leave. The workers donât deserve what they were thrown into this morning. The economy is already hard enough, but the ball was totally dropped today. And to add, shame on whoever is running this place in such a small town like this. Your workers deserve better. Atmosphere wonât cut it when you canât get food out in...
Read moreI came into Ernieâs this past Sunday, to which a live band was playing. I loved the unique environment, many things to look at. While it was extremely busy, things cleared up when the band was finished with their set. My server was nice, and she got my food out in a timely manner. I ordered the tower of onion rings, which were very good. For my entree I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans. It wasnât my favorite, but it wasnât terrible. My intuition told me to order something else, but it had been a while since I had meatloaf, so I went with that. If Iâm in the area again, I will stop by and try something else. Next door was the double dip ice cream shop, which was also very neat. There is even a bowling alley located inside. I had a cookies n crème cone, and the ice cream was delicious. I overall recommend this establishment for the experience alone. I enjoyed...
