I’ll preface by saying it looked like the business was having the worst day ever. It happens. Unfortunately, this was my first experience with them and it was the worst experience I’ve had with a pizza place in my entire life. I placed an order for pickup and arrived 30 minutes later when the food was notated to be ready. I never got a clear explanation what happened but only one of my two pizzas were ready and the other hadn’t even been started. I was handed the completed pizza to hold onto while the other one was prepared. The younger guy at the counter tried to do what he could to help things along but the older gentleman preparing the pizzas just kept shouting over him “35 minute wait” and put zero effort into getting my missing pizza out with any urgency.
After nearly 20 minutes of sitting in the miserably hot lobby, the older gentleman handed me the pizza while shouting in frustration. Not the best thing to do to a customer especially when the issues aren’t my doing. The man at the counter offered to fully refund my order while I was waiting which I appreciated and the only reason I’m not giving it 1 star. As far as the food, the pizza was fine. I really hoped the quality of the food would have somewhat made up for the experience but it was far from the best I’ve had…even locally. I have to assume all the 5 star reviews are from people that have never eaten pizza outside of Bloomingdale. Clearly many people have had a much better experience than I did but I’ll never...
Read moreAfter what has to be my hundredth visit to the best pizza spot in town, I figured it was time for a proper review.
Today on the way home, as I tend to do at least 3 times a week, I had the pleasure of sinking my teeth into another slice of Roma Pizza. Even though Roma Pizza is nestled in the heart of the south, if you didn’t know better you’d think they’re getting these pizzas shipped directly from NYC.
Every single time, Dave’s pizzas are perfectly thin with that trademark crispy crust that's so light, it's practically levitating. The cheese stretches better than my wife’s yoga instructor, and the sauce is as indescribably good as anything I’ve ever tasted.
You’d think finding authentic NY pizza in Georgia would be like finding a unicorn riding a rainbow…..but even a unicorn couldn’t compare to the majesty that is Roma Pizza. It's the kind of pizza that makes you question why you ever settled for anything less.
On top of the pizza wizard running the show in the back, Joseph and Christina bring a level of southern hospitality that just can’t be beaten. Lebron, Bosh, and Wade couldn’t compete with this “Big 3”
So, if you find yourself in Savannah (Bloomingdale to be exact) and craving that ultimate New York pizza experience, let me give you a pro tip: skip the flight to Manhattan and head over to Roma. They've mastered the art of the foldable slice and the perfect ratio of cheese to sauce. It's a pizza pilgrimage you...
Read moreI was coming from Beaufort to Charleston airport with my parents and my mother said she wanted pizza. This was along the way and had the best reviews so I headed to this place and OMG I'm so glad we were determined to go. The pizza was beyond phenomenal and the people just amazing. Locals were chatting up the owners and servers making it very obvious this was a well established local place that cared for their community as well as beloved for their amazing food. We wanted pizza by the slice and I wanted a special with additions and thought it might be too much to ask for and the server was like absolutely not too much to ask for. It was just amazing and I'm sitting back in my home state of Colorado craving this place. Let me know when yall decide to open a second location nearly halfway across the USA please. 🙏 In the interim, I will have to make stops every time I go back through Charleston to see my family. My parents were beyond impressed and also made the same pact to return. I think they will argue a 2nd location though closer to them,...
