This is the only review you need to read. As a supreme donut snob I can confidently tell you that The Donut Shop in Bloomingdale is the ONLY place that you should even consider buying donuts. First, the donuts are fresh and properly made: Skunk lines are present on all yeast donuts ( which is an industry term that refers to the light line on the side of a yeast donut which means that the dough has been processed properly. ) The icing is level and without cross hatches - meaning a real person is icing them - not a machine ( aka Krispy Kreme) The oil used is fresh and at the right temperature. I’ve never tasted anything that had a lingering rancid flavor ( old oil ) or been left with a greasy residue on my hands ( meaning the donuts are cooked at the right temp) The texture is perfect - never dry ( overcooked ) or gummy (undercooked ) The customer service is unsurpassed. Jennifer and Lou are so kind- they held half a dozen donuts for me the day before valentines day when I needed a last minute treat for a family celebration, and I had dental surgery and I could only eat soft foods, Lou took extra care in packaging the donuts so that it would be easier for me to access when I was groggy from my pain pills. Don’t waste time with the other jokers in town. This shop is the real deal.

This little donut and coffee shop is great! They have a pretty good variety of donuts, and now even have vegan donuts on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays! This is great for people with food allergies, like myself, to enjoy a donut. I tried a regular and a strawberry vegan donut, and both were delicious. [*EDIT* February 2025 - They do not currently have these vegan donuts anymore, however the owner says they are working on a new recipe to reintroduce them! They said to follow their Facebook page for updates] My family liked the traditional Boston creme donuts, and the old fashioned donuts. This place also has biscuits, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, grits bowls, and more. Their menu changes from time to time, so make sure to check their website or call before going if you want something specific.

“These donuts are SO fresh,” “I don’t want to eat these because of how pretty they are,” “I think these are my new favorite donuts,” …These are all quotes heard at my sister’s wedding : ) I called Jennifer about a month before my sister’s wedding in search for someone to make custom donuts. We are from Ohio and must have called at least 10 other donut/pastry shops in the Savannah area. Jennifer messaged back almost immediately and was extremely willing to go above and beyond so my sister’s vision came true. She even offered to deliver when I expressed my concern about transportation. She is professional, easy to work with, bakes the tastiest donuts, and most of all, SO SWEET! Jennifer is one-of-a-kind and I wish I could stop in for morning donuts every Sunday : )

Eh. It's ok for a little town. Not really excited about the staff though.

The ceiling tiles were painted in an interesting pattern, though the white tiles next to them were quite filthy, so the "fancy" paint job just helped to illuminate the poor cleaning skills of the employees.

But, here's an overview of our experience:

We arrived early before the big rush. Sat in some worn out (but comfortable) arm chairs. We had ordered several items.

Apple Fritter: Great. Flaky and chunky with all the right taste.

Red Velvet Donut: Soft and fluffy with a crisp outer texture.

Hot Tea: Awful. Served at (probably) 300 Degrees Fahrenheit. Took 28 minutes to cool to drinkable temperature. "Great Value" Tea Tag was a tell-tale sign that the Wal Mart carries a tasty tea.

Pineapple Smoothie: Good. Not too sweet. Very cold.

Egg and Cheese Biscuit: Ok. Better than McDonalds. Flaky biscuit. The only drawback was that the staff was singing the "Da da da da daaa... I'm loving it" theme song from McDonalds.

Blueberry Bagel with butter and cheese: Toasted then butter then cheese then microwaved... They had a real tough time sussing this one out. They were incredibly perplexed that I wanted "cheese" and not "cream cheese." So I said: "Cheese cheese" and that made things even more confusing. "You don't have just cheese?" I asked... "Cream cheese?" Dear Lord Almighty... And then Jennifer (Not the cashier Jen) wanted to argue about my preparation technique and that microwaving the product would be a mistake even though I know exactly what I want.

Overall, 3 of 5. They would be great if they cleaned a little, carried an mid-tier tea selection and communicated a little better with...

I really wish I could give a higher review for The Donut Shop. The owners and employees clearly work very hard and take pride in what they do. It’s very clean, orderly, and welcoming. The donuts were delicious and appreciated. However, I did make a personal mistake (I took/take full responsibility) and asked some questions that the staff clearly thought were stupid, and they definitely made me feel exactly that… stupid. I was very friendly and understanding, wanting to work with them and whatever was easiest for them, but was talked down to and embarrassed in front of the other customers. I honestly wished the floor would swallow me up the whole time I was in there. I understand this establishment stays busy and doesn’t have time for orders/customers who they deem are idiotic or annoying, but I did feel like I deserved a bit more respect in communication than I was given. I tried apologizing for my inconvenience multiple times, but I think everyone was pretty much over me and didn’t say much else. The woman working the front was the nicest one there and actually was very understanding. I don’t regret my order, I even left a tip, I just wish I had been talked to with a bit more respect.

I wish this business nothing...
