The Kozy — Restaurant in Bloomsdale

Beautiful, new looking building. The atmosphere inside is clean rustic mixed with modern design and super comfy seating. Staff was polite, restaurant was busy, and while the wait for a table wasn't too long, I can't say the same was true for our order delivery. We ordered two of the Sunday specials, open faced roast beef/mashed potatoes, both with sides of grilled broccoli and both with the cheese added for an additional charge. Our son ordered the fried pork chops topped with brown gravy, grilled broccoli + the $chz, and french fries. The wait for our order bordered ridiculous, but we try not to make much fuss as we understand things like being short staffed, certainly during peak times does happen. We woke up nearly two hours after having entered to find our server placing the meals be4 us. It looked delicious despite all three orders of grilled broccoli not being served with the cheese. As it's an extra charge I did call it to the servers attention and eventually another lady brought out one small side of cheese sauce for us to share. She did say we could feel free to request more but we didn't dare risk the wait. We all began tasting our dinners and discovered the Sunday specials to be quite cool. Not wanting to complain, really not wanting additional wait time, and building up a serious appetite in the 1hr 46min wait to see our food delivered the husband and I cleared our plates regardless. Our son enjoyed the pork chops but wasn't a fan of the fries and wouldn't attempt the broccoli without it cheese topping. Final disappointment here was not receiving an apology or discount for such a lengthy delay of our day and not finding a credit for the extra cheese sauces we never got. Perhaps u will find a better experience but it's doubtful well return since the costly stop was not worth the time...

I will start this review by saying there were 15 people in our group. I called to make a reservation for a Saturday evening/night after a sporting event ended. Initially Kozy said they could accommodate then they said they couldn't. We made other plans, then the manager called back saying they could accommodate. I am very thankful she called back because our other reservation fell through. Everyone received their food except myself and 1 other person, by the time we got our food others were almost done. Another person in our group asked for the toast that went with his meal 3 times, he never received it. When the waitress brought the bill she said oh I never brought your toast did i? For the 2 of us that received our meals late, when we were almost done eating the waitress brought 1 more chicken strip and said they realized we shorted you 1 so here you go. I ordered cod, I'm not sure if the cod was cooked all the way through, it was tough and rubbery and did not seem to be very warm. I did tell the waitress I thought maybe it wasn't cooked all the way through, she said ya that is a thick piece of cod . Needless to say I stopped eating the fish (had more than half of it left) Although the brussel sprouts with bacon were awesome I left hungry and had a sandwich when I got home. Everyone else loved what they ordered and they were very happy with their tasty dinner. We had a gluten free request they happily met. Although my 3 out of 4 in my family were mildly frustrated the larger number of people in the group were happy and very satisfied. I will give them a second chance and we'll see how that goes. Went for breakfast this morning and the server seemed to be in a rush from the beginning although she greeted other tables with a smile and pleasantries she greeted me and my husband with a rushed “what do you want to drink and are you ready to order” we asked for a few more moments to look at the menu and she rushed off to get our drinks. When she came back she placed our drinks on the table and ran off to help another table. Once again I understand being busy but no recognition was made to us. When she came back to take our order she looked down the entire time and made no contact with us whatsoever and was very rushed. Once again understood she may have been stressed about the breakfast crowd. After she took our order she never came back to our table. Another waitress brought our food and my bacon was burnt to a crisp and unedible when I needed a refill I had to run her down through the restaurant and we asked for our bill multiple times before it was brought. When finally getting our bill she made a comment about the bacon that it was severely overcooked and she would’ve brought it back to the kitchen if she had known. She couldn’t have known because she never checked on us after we placed our order. She made many many excuses as to why our service was less than pleasant and then looked at my husband and said “have a good day sir” and ran off once again. Overall the service was one of the worst encounters I’ve ever had and the food was cold and some was burnt. This used to be our favorite breakfast spot but after having Michelle B.
