Had high expectations but they were not realized. Our party was 7 - 2 kids and 5 adults. Our order was taken at 10:19 AM. About 15 minutes later, the waitress said the food would be out shortly. After another 15 minutes, she said it was taking longer because someone ordered chicken. Really?? We asked if the kids' plates could come out because, as 9- and 4-year-olds, they were hungry and getting restless. The kids' plates came out about 9 minutes later - 39 minutes after we placed the order. The adults' meals came out at 11:04 AM - 45 minutes after we placed the order. Two of us ordered just a plain waffle. They were stone-cold. The thought that the singular piece of chicken took 45 minutes to cook is laughable. (See the photo.) We brought the issues of the cold waffles and the long wait to the waitress's attention. She said she would mention it to the kitchen and that it happens sometimes with a bigger order and that they tell people to expect to wait 40-45 minutes for the meal. She did NOT ever tell us this at the start of the order. The food quality was not bad, but as others have pointed out, rather expensive for what you get. Besides being cold, the waffles were no better than what you can get at The Waffle House or even at one of the discount hotel chains that offers a waffle-maker in their breakfast room. They were not oversized either. Not a lot of waffle for $6.50. The breakfast sandwich was sub-par. The chicken was good. The orange juice was tasty - it was fresh-squeezed. However, lots of seeds in the glass (See photo.) Never had fresh-squeezed OJ with seeds before. Not a good idea for several reasons and not common based on a quick search online. When the bill came, my wife asked if they were able to take off the charges for the cold waffles. She said they didn't. This was a poor response. I understand that restaurants will make mistakes from time to time. How they respond to a mistake and try to make the customer happy is more important than the mistake itself. When they don't even try to show some good will towards a disappointed customer, that reflects poorly on their commitment to service. I would think they would gladly give up the $13.00 they charged for the cold waffles in exchange for a good review of their customer service. I guess that's not what Cahill's is all about. There are lots of other - and better - breakfast options in the Bluffton/Hilton Head area. ...
Read moreOh my word, in competition with One Hot Mama's for the best meal that my family and I ate during our 2 week.stay in HHI this August. First time at Cahills, went for Sunday brunch. First off, my incredibly picky 3 year old daughter had plenty of good things to eat to keep her happy, including corn muffins, homemade Mac and cheese, and homemade, hand battered chicken fingers. My 5 year old son was likewise happy with his meal, including the homemade lemonade. We ordered a basket of corn muffins and the generous portion of 5 muffins came with the most delicious, warm, soft, creamy honey blended soft butter spread to put onto the muffins - this was by far the most delicious, unique butter spread that I have eaten at a restaurant and can't wait to have it again. My main meal was the chicken fried steak with a biscuit, sausage gravy, and gritts. Everything was absolutely delicious - the chicken fried steak was tender, perfctly seasoned, not salty, and the sausage gravy was a generous portion and likewise absolutely delicious, fresh, creamy, and seasoned perfectly. The grits were creamy, fresh, and again well-seasoned and not overly salty, done just right. My husband and I decided to order a side of their sweet potato casserole because the presentation looked good and seriously, it was one of the best things that I have ever eaten, it was that good. Perfectly whipped sweet potatoes with added spice and a hint of syrup, with a crusted pecan topping, it was absolutely 100% delicious and recommend it without hesitation - truly one of the best things I have ever eaten, and this is coming from someone who grew up with an immigrant Italian mother who makes her own breads, pastas, tomato sauce, canned and pickled vegetables, homemade sausages, lasagna, etc. It should be apparent but my family and I, based upon our absolutely delicious meal with great service, recommend Cahills without hesitation - the food is the star of the show and made by a chef who truly knows and cares deeply for southern comfort food and whose incredible cooking skills are evident in every bite. Just an overall wonderful family dining experience created by the people at Cahills who clearly truly care and appreciate good...
Read more4.5 stars-Cahill's Market and Chicken kitchen Highly rated brunch option two hours outside Charleston in Bluffton SC. Funky roadside combo of farm market and restaurant praised for their fried chicken. Brunch menu ranges from usual breakfast dishes, chicken and waffles, burgers, even a waffle with fried bologna inside. Also the southern fave meal, meat and three. Started the meal with a half order of deviled eggs and an order of cornbread muffins with honey butter. The eggs were fresh and tasty with the surprise addition of chopped bacon in the filling. Yum. Cornbread muffins had a fluffy texture, perfectly cooked with delicious honey butter. DW chose 2 egg breakfast with chicken biscuit and home fries. The potatoes tasted like they had been cooked in bacon fat and were delicious. The chicken biscuit was underwhelming as the biscuit was pretty fluffy but the chicken seemed like a generic chicken strip. My choice today was the meat and three with fried chicken, mac & cheese, broccoli casserole, and cuke tomato salad. Plus an added biscuit with homemade berry jam. Biscuit was perfect vehicle for the sweet spread. The mac and cheese was tasty but had a bit of a granular texture I believe from using real cheddar not some sauce or powder. Broccoli casserole, which I haven't had in a long time, was also very flavorful and cheesy. Very good. The cuke & tomato salad had a nice light dressing-italian?-but should have been called cuke and pepper because there was very few tomatoes and lots of green and red peppers. Still enjoyed. The star was the fried chicken. A breast and a wing of some of the best fried chicken I have ever tasted. Fresh, perfectly cooked not greasy with a light but crispy breading. Just the perfect piece. The portions on the sides were plentiful so I chose to focus on the chicken. Wish I could have finished all but it's just a big meal. While I wish there was a place like this at home I'm glad there isn't. A great place to eat if your anywhere in the vicinity....
