Smokey Mo's BBQ — Restaurant in Boerne

I'm a regular here. I live next door and eat here a couple times a week and help fill the tip jar every visit. (tons of smokey mo's cups in my cabinet)

Anyway, walked in when they where completely not busy today and they had an empty line and I also saw no cars in the drive thru.

The whole time these kids are talking, doing nothing, flipping towels around in circles...basically the absolute dead hours of the shift. (that's why I came)

However, I find only one person works. He says he'll be right with me as he is now taking a order and ringing up a person in the drive thru that just pulled up...mind you four other people are standing around doing nothing...as I gaze at the second empty register.

Then he pays the person out in the drive thru, proceeds to go to the back to get that order ready, then starts taking ANOTHER drive thru order!!

The worst part is, this second order is HUGE, as I hear him taking it.

That's pretty bad. He sees me looking at him, and knows whats going on.

After 18 minutes I was amazed and had enough. I walked out and will never eat there over priced BBQ with horrible service again. The cups will also all be removed from my cabinets and thrown...

The young man manning the register was 100% delivering 5-star service!

Because I’m picky about my meat and the last place I had BBQ brisket at was not a good experience, I asked the young man if I could see the lean brisket.

He told me that he could leave or cut off as much of the fat as I liked and invited me to a taste sample.

It was very good and I ordered a plate of it with their pinto beans.

The young lady working prepared my order quickly and handed me a brown bag to go.

Unfortunately I wound up underwhelmed with the meal overall, as the beans had an odd taste, the brisket was not warm, and the BBQ sauce in the bag was not really to my taste.

I feel like I may have had a better experience had I simply been handed the to-go container with meat and sides then told I could help myself to the fixins bar.

I would have tested their multiple sauces if so and not grabbed bread or onions or spoon which all wound up going in the garbage. (Wasted cost to the company & I don’t like wasting resources as a minimalist.)

Overall, I’m glad I came in and I’m completely satiated now.

If in the area again, I’d be happy to give Smokey Mo’s another go, but would not go out of...

I just went there I purchased the baker with turkey and brisket . Man Smokey’s has really gone down hill . I asked for more bq since I was charged for it but did I get any the guy at the window said he thr w some in there and he didn’t . This is the driest bake potato I have ever eaten . Allso let me tell you the door dash and Uber eats suck too every time I order it never gets delivered the drivers eat it . This place has gone down hill the potatoes are not good and big any more it’s supposed to be 14 ioz and it’s not close to it. The managers do not give good customer service either there just trying to get through the day no help what so ever I called and they said sorry no customer service...
