This past Saturday, the 10th of April, I had the worst shrimp po-boy ever served to me proudly by Glynn's. It was a large that was ordered with extra shrimp. The bread was stale, dried out, and hard. It may have had 3 or 4 actual shrimp on the whole thing. They did load it up with plenty of fried shrimp crusts. It figures... They've been skimping on the meat for their roast beef po-boys for years now and I should have known better. It costed me 4 dollars extra for the shrimp crumbs. I couldn't take it back as I was on my way out of town and finally got to look at it in Covington. I'll never go back and will be advising others to do the same. Meanwhile, I don't believe in complaining without offering a solution to problems so here goes... To the people who believe this is quality sammich making, try eating outside Washington Parish where the quality is much, much better and cheaper. I know folks like Bear's in Covington but, a shorter drive to the Frost Top in Picayune will not disappoint the most discerning of tastes. They load their sammichs nicely. Their po-boys are dollars cheaper and when you order extra shrimp or the like, you literally can't get all of it on the buns and, it's still cheaper than the regular prices for these pitiful po-boys served at Glynn's. The days when awesome quality po-boys being made by DB's, Coops, and yes, even the old Frost Top in Bogue, are long gone and it seems like folks have forgotten what quality sammich making actually is. Oh, by the way, I do know a bit of what I'm talking about. I worked for a couple of years at Olde Tyme Grocery in Lafayette while in school. They've won state awards many times over and have been featured in Louisiana tourism commercials for years to attract folks to the state because of their po-boys. Stop wasting your money and get much more and much better for less,...
Read moreGranted it had been years since we last ate here, but the food was down several notches from our last visit. Just about everyone in our party of 14 had a complaint about there food.
The roast beef poboys were soggy. The salad was almost the core of a head of lettuce on a plate. They didn't bother to break it up and obviously not wasting a bit of lettuce. Since no knives are in the dining area, this meal was hard (literally) to eat. The fried oysters were from a jar-- very small and almost over done. Our visit was in April and fresh oysters were available.
We left disappointed in an old favorite that has so far managed to stay in business since at least the 60's! However, that may be about to change--unlesz they make some changes on the inside/kitchen!
Go to Glynn's at your own risk, but remember that I...
Read moreNice people, okay food, really bad experience not sure if it was a one off because I’ve always enjoyed the Franklinton location. My bf ordered a plain hamburger, received it dressed, they took it to the back for five minutes but had obviously just scraped everything off and reassembled it (lettuce pieces still on it- mayo soaked into the bun etc), I went up and requested they remake it, 15 minutes into waiting for the new one I hear someone order the exact burger plain. After another 15 minutes a he receives his and we still haven’t gotten ours. I then had to ask the kitchen when ours would be coming out and it was still 10 minutes after that. We were there for an hour. They have a no...
