went here this afternoon and I was prepared to write a glowing review. The food was good, our waitress was very friendly, the location was cute and there was even a resident hen running around that had been bullied by the birds at a local farm and decided to make the yard around the restaurant her new home. It wasnt perfect, the poor waitress seemed to be constantly running, even though it wasn't very busy, and it seemed to take quite a while to get our menus. There was some sort of photo shoot (maybe for the owners family) and that seemed to be keeping people pretty busy. But the wait wasn't from lack of effort, so for me that is forgivable. The food was tasty, we got a BBQ pizza, mac and cheese, pulled chicken nachos, and the brussel sprouts. My son wasn't crazy about his mac and cheese, but that was more because he is a solid Kraft man and doesn't like real food. Other than that, we all enjoyed it.
Unfortunately the last 5 minutes ruined the experience for me. It was such a beautiful day, we decided to eat our food at the picnic table they had outside. The patio was done nicely and there was a short, grassy hill right next to the table and we could watch the hen. My kids love running down hills and asked if they could run while we were wrapping up. At first, I said no because I didn't want them scaring the hen, but then a woman came out with a small child who chased the bird away, so I told my boys they could run down the hill while I was waiting for the check. They went over (maybe 5 or 10 feet from the table) and we're getting ready to run down. The woman (who seems somehow connected to the restaurant, maybe an owner?) came up to my boys and told them they weren't allowed to be there because that was restaurant property. She didn't say anything to me, despite the fact that I was only a few feet away, but scolded my children for running on the grass immediately outside the patio area. I'm sorry, but who does that? They weren't yelling or being obnoxious, they we're simply wanting to run around in a safe spot between the patio and the parking lot. I believe that if you are going to have a restaurant, your customers should come first and you should be hospitable. Yelling at kids for running on a lawn isn't acceptable.
It's too bad because it seemed like a nice place. If you have no kids and want to stop by for a quick bite, you may want to try it. The waitresses were at least nice. But I won't be supporting a restaurant who's owners can't be nice to...
Read moreService was so horribly slow I won't be back. It took an hour and a half to get 1 pizza, 1 beer and 1 water-and this is no fancy place. It took a half hour for the waitress to come to our table for the first time-and there's no option to order at the counter. If there's a half hour wait, they should have told us. Instead they told us to choose a table and someone would be right over. A half hour with no service, no ordering or beverages when there was supposed to be no wait? Ridiculous. Then it took another 15 minutes or so to get a water and a beer. Eventually our pizza came, but with no plates so we ate off of napkins. The cheese was melty and there was a lot of sauce so a plate would have been helpful, especially since we were given knives and forks. Waitress did not come back to check on us, so we didn't ask for plates. We ate quickly, seeing as we'd been there a solid hour already. After getting the check and asking for a box, we were still waiting for the box after an hour and a half of being there, so we just took our leftover pizza on the serving paper and left. The place was not full either- plenty of empty tables when we came and we were the only ones in the whole outdoor seating area when we left. We had asked for a box twice and the waitress was cleaning other tables, although the place was so empty it could have easily waited. It would have taken a maximum of 2 minutes for her to walk back and grab a box for us so we could get going. If you want to take a solid hour to get a pizza, and then slow service therafter, this is the place for you. The food was good but nowhere near special enough to justify this kind of wait and...
Read moreRip off- be aware! They charged us different price then listed on the menu and they refused to adjusted accordingly after we complaint. This is a misleading and unfair practice to cheat your clients listing a price and charging a higher one. And the menu given to us was not a pre-pandemic menu. No-the menu given to us had already adjusted prices recently and an addition to that they charged even more on the bill. What a shame. We used to come for dinner all the time and bring friends but we will reconsider in the future. It is not even the fact the prices are higher thou in total the bill had a significant increase it is the fact the restaurant manager refused to be fair to us and charge the price listed. For what I know one client can be charge a price lower and next client can pay more for the same menu item –depends how they feel about you or if they are in a good mood. Pity- no wonder the place was not as busy as they used to be.

The table near us was charge according to price listed. No, our problem was that a we ordered a smaller pizza and the waiter brought us a large one. When we objected and we told her to take it back , she said that we will be charge the same price as for a small pizza. However, when the bill came, the price was higher for other food product same amount as make to the difference between small and large pizza. FYI: half of the pizza was left on the table. We ordered a small pizza because only one of us wanted pizza not because of the price. Thank you for your feed back. We still believe that Slaters restaurant is a great place to eat however we did not care for the...
