I don't think I've ever had a meal so terrible from a mexican restaurant. From Gilbertos... maybe. But even then they actually gave me my full order. To start it off the order was a little more than $50. 2 adult meals, 2 chimi cheesecakes, 1 bean and rice side, 1 chips and queso. It took 2 HOURS to get to us. 1 hour and 40 min to even have the food be finished. I fully expected it to be cold when it got here, but surprisingly it was not. But unfortunately that means they were ignoring our order or were preoccupied with something else. Whatever, it's a Saturday night I get it! I'm just glad it was warm. Though, that is probably the best I could say about this. I got a carnitas burrito as my main meal, fully expecting beans and rice as a side since it's around $8-$12 I think? It didn't come with anything except a pile of iceberg lettuce. What a side, right? Well if that wasn't odd enough the carnitas weren't even seasoned. At least I couldn't taste it. I mean this was pulled pork at the most. Grandma put more seasoning on her food. As for the chips and queso, we just didn't get the queso! We sure got some salsa, if you count the bland red water we got. Not exaggerating it was extremely watery and flavorless. Chips were alright but you can't mess up chips. As for the cheesecake... it was alright! I thought it looked a bit odd at first and besides some difficulty eating it cleanly it was good! It came with the perfect amount of ice-cream to compliment it. If you're looking for a very sweet desert, this will settle your sweet tooth.
I was really looking forward to this after hearing a lot of good talk. Maybe I just got unlucky, but you shouldn't have to be lucky when you order food. Overall it was plain, overpriced for the...

The food was okay. Chips and salsa were great, better than most Mexican restaurants. Beans and rice were very good. Where the restaurant disappointed me was with the main entrees.
First the ceviche was absolutely unacceptable. It wasn’t ceviche. It was chopped, cooked shrimp mixed with pico de Gallo with a subtle hint of lime. The ceviche as lukewarm. That was the first red flag. After looking at the ceviche I realized that the shrimp wasn’t cured in the lime as it should have. This restaurant obviously took shortcuts to prepare this meal. Maybe it’s just the way they do it here. There is no place in Mexico that would serve the ceviche like this. Ceviche should never be lukewarm. The lime cures the shrimp, in effect cooks it from its raw state. If you don’t believe me, Google it.
My wife ordered a shrimp enchilada. It was all wrong.
I guess the lesson of the story is not to order shrimp entrees?
If you go to this restaurant, I suggest you try it for yourself. It might be right for you. But for someone who loves ceviche, I know what I am talking about. Get that BS out of my face! Don’t serve that...
Read moreOur second restaurant experience in Bondurant was Bonita Mexican Grill. We stopped by for dinner last night and were surprised at how busy it was for a bit later in the evening.
We started with the Cheese Dip (regular size). We were a little disappointed at how small the dip was for $6, and the dip itself was only warm and not hot. The meals we got were the Choripollo and the Chimi Birria.
The Choripollo is a very common dish that we like to get to judge any new-to-us Mexican restaurants. It was a solid option, but the part that surprised us was that there were not any tortillas included. We would get this again, but apparently have to order a side of tortillas.
The Chimi Birria is one of their “new plates” and not on the normal menu. I really like this one. I thought the whole meal always really tasty and had good flavors across the cheese sauce, Birria meat, and consommé. Definitely get this one while you can, just in case it doesn’t get added to the...
