Market At Terre Du Lac — Restaurant in Bonne Terre

Parking was convenient, and the decor was eclectic- interesting historical, religious and local bits and bobs. The drinks are 100% self serve, we are water drinkers, and it’s filtered and from a tab on the soda machine. I had the pizza- very tasty and a heavy helping of sauce and cheese. My husband is always in search of a Philly cheesesteak that is as good as what he used to eat in Philadelphia. (He’s spent years ordering these things and complaining- every time there’s one on a menu.) Well…. the sandwich came and he was quiet! He chowed down and said “THIS is the way I remember the steak!” It was delicate, flavorful and crispy edges from the grill. The bun wasn’t chewy and tough, but light and crisped with butter. The cheese used here is Swiss, which was ok, he says next time he will ask for provelone or cheese Whiz. But right here in Bonne Terre lies a Philly that is done right!! I’ve been here from time to time for the last 2 years. It’s always been just ok nothing to write home about. Great value fries and greasy somewhat soggy fried chicken.but this time I wanted a salad so I ordered a dinner salad that came to almost 8 dollars after tax. I laughed when he brought it out because it was so tiny and I told my wife this must be a joke.the owner he wasn’t working but his husband was and yelled that I can’t take it back I still have to pay for it across the room. I think the hamburger was going bad but they used it anyway other than that not such a bad place at all good environment and people. If they would have known I was going to review them I'm sure the burger would have been better I noticed the normal cook was out that day and his replacement might have been looking down on my crew of builders because we weren't the cleanest folks in the building but I'll bet we tipped better than most even if the service was piss pore for once. All other visits were great....
