Ocean Point Kitchen — Restaurant in Boothbay

Tried the OPK last night with my wife and 2 friends and had a great time. The food was very good, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was fun with all different types of antique tables and chairs with dozens of odd paintings put up on the ceilings. Our friends own a restaurant and were equally impressed with the wine and local beer list as well as the menu which was a great mix of seafood, vegetarian options, a couple of steaks and a chicken option. The crab/haddock cakes were some of the best I have ever had. Reasonably priced. Loved all of it. I know that there are amazing views there even though we happened to be there on a very foggy night. Hostess was nowhere to be found when we arrived and the hotel concierge had to track her down after noticing how long we waited.

We are staying at the hotel and came in because the fresh pasta sounded good. As soon as we sat down she let us know the pasta was a no-go because they were out of mozzarella. Later in the meal, we heard the continuing list of updates to other tables about other 86-ed items, including lobster.

I settled on the chicken sandwich and it came out with a “black garlic aioli”. The chicken was not remotely seasoned and the aioli, to put it frankly, looks like actual shit dripping out of the sandwich. Incredibly unappetizing. The old menu shows a “spicy aioli” which seems like the better choice here.

4.5 rating….We ate here twice while staying in the hotel. We ate both breakfast and dinner. We had two different waiters but had a similar experience with both.

Both were very friendly, but everything took very long time. Everything came out perfectly, we had no issues with the food it was delicious. But I felt at times it would have been better for the waitstaff to check in and ask if we needed more water or drinks. They missed out on the sale and a higher tip. That’s all.

Both times food was amazing, large potions too! Once the food came out the wait staff was more attentive.
