This was one of the most depressing restaurants I’ve ever been in. You walk in the door and I immediately wanted to leave but it was the only place still open that advertised “BBQ” - and hubs was fresh off work and just wanted to eat. The whole atmosphere is of a place where they know it sucks but just don’t care enough to change anything. The menu is way too big for somewhere like this and it shows in the food quality. I ordered the basket of ribs and husband ordered the T-bone medium well - when they eventually made it out of the kitchen none of it looked good but still decided to give it a chance and I wish I could take back that first taste. Ribs had absolutely no flavor except on top with whatever rub or sauce they managed and the fries weren’t even good! Idk how you can mess up fries but they did it. The Tbone had to be sent back bc it was like that just barely kissed it on the flattop before bringing it out and even after that it wasn’t done but we just wanted to try and eat and get out of there. None of the sides were any better for him and our total was $50 which is outright criminal. Don’t waste your money because you would cook anything else better in a hotel...
Read moreIt has been over 20 years since I've been here. Stopped to grab an order to go. Ordered a half pound of brisket, pint of beans and potato salad. Looking so forward to the BBQ I remembered. Got home, 16 miles away, put away groceries, then sat down to eat with my husband. OMG, to my surprise, no brisket! What we got was 4 pieces of chunk beef and lots of pan drippings, 1/2 pint of beans with a half pint of beans juice, and a full pint of potato salad. Had to drive back to BORGER to get my brisket. Finally got home to supper, and of course food was really cold, nothing like microwaved BBQ. Potato salad was really tart. Brisket was just ok at best and beans barely enough for 2. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT. Why did I even expect Sutphens to still be the best BBQ in the panhandle of Texas. Mediocre vat best. Paid $21.00, And this was a 1/2 lb order of brisket. NOT AT...
Read moreVeggie fried appetizer plate. Batter was nice and crispy, ranch was really good. We didn’t get any appetizer plates, so 5 of us used napkins to set our food on. Our 6 year old loved his $10 quesadilla. Looked good, tortilla was good, disappointed that there was no kids menu. My husband and I both had Barbecue. The sauce was like gravy, I’m no Barbecue expert but I’ve never had it like that. They served some chunks of beef that were more like roast. The sausage was a softer consistency, like it was more processed? Other 2 kiddos had burgers, they liked them, only thing I would change was the American cheese. 14 year old said her fries had too much pepper on them. Beans with the Barbecue were just bland pinto beans. Plates were like 1970’s truck stop style with brown accents. Just really disappointing for an...
