Sullivan's Castle Island — Restaurant in Boston

I used to love coming to the Castle Island location, however I will not be returning again.

I told my boyfriend about how much I loved the rootbeer floats and how he should get one. Upon ordering my boyfriend asked me to order it with coke or diet coke instead of rootbeer. I asked the kid if this was okay and he turned to the older man taking orders next to him to make sure. The older man became incredibly rude and angry and at first said no and rudely questioned why we would ask to order that. Then said fine but they only had Pepsi products. He proceeded to turn around to the staff in the back and made a loud and rude comment about the order and made further passive aggressive gestures indicating that we were dumb for asking to modify the order.

It's literally just soda and icecream, and if he said no initially we would have just ordered something else and called it a day. I was taken back at the older man's behavior, and turned to my boyfriend in ear shot of the man and said something like: you like what you like and there's nothing wrong with it. He apparently did not like this because we waited a very long time for our 2 drinks after multiple people who were served behind us were getting their whole food orders and icecream. I walked over to one of the staff and asked about our order. He handed me a very sloppy icecream float that has been sitting there for what looked like a while with little icecream. He then had someone make the other drink which was very watered down. We tried to drink them but ended up throwing them out.

I don't blame the kids working, as I suspect the older man probably told them to neglect our order as I watched him pull a few of them aside after. While waiting we did see in full how the older man was also rudly treating the other staff who looked like they were under 18, which was very concerning and atrocious.

Something needs to be done about his erratic behavior, as he is clearly incompetent, and can't manage his own personal emotions and issues efficiently. He should not have a customer facing position. Love Castle Island such a great place to take my daughters! The reason this gets a one star is because the way my family when we walked in today. The older gentleman was extremely rude I could hear him barking orders aggressively before we even stepped foot in the building. My family was next in line literally standing right in front of him and he was calling to the customers behind us , “let’s go people! Come on, next person already “ the customers behind us were very uncomfortable and said “sir, they are next to order. “ He did not apologize at all or even acknowledge that he skipped over us but rather when we were proceeding to order he continued to be short and rude to us!! Like we were doing something wrong by ordering food. My husband was so disgusted by this man’s aggressive nasty behavior that he only grabbed a soda and two small fries for the girls. If my four-year-old twin daughters were not hungry I would have walked right out of the restaurant. Very upsetting since we had planned to order seafood burgers and chicken fingers. The other two young girls who were cashiering also looked very uncomfortable. You could tell this gentleman created a negative work environment and he definitely created an uncomfortable and negative experience for me and my family! This should not be part of the wonderful experience and history that Castle Island is. I am a successful general manager, I’ve been in the food service industry my entire life. I would never have people with this type of disturbing disposition working for me. This is the hospitality industry our guests keep us in business and when you go to Castle Island the atmosphere and environment should match at Sullivan’s restaurant to I should never be yelled that or insulted when I am trying to order food for my family. This man’s behavior is extremely unacceptable. My four-year-old daughter even asked me “mommy why is that man so angry? “ Needless to say we will not be returning to Sullivan’s and I will be telling my family and friends about the four experience...

I base my reviews on mobility impairments and Sullivan's is the best you can hope for easily accessible when you pull into the parking lot where the "castle" is… sadly Sullivan's is the only place to eat in and around Castle Island. it is a good place to eat but is astronomical and its prices. stay away from some of the finer seafood social scallops clam bellies excetera but if you want greasy deep fried seafood you've come to the right place!!! as for Price, a family of four could easily crunk $80 for a medium-sized takeout order they have picnic tables but no dine-in. however the scenery can't be beaten with Castle Islands fortress, the airplanes going into Logan that you feel you can touch and the fishing on the pier, the playgrounds are top-notch restroom facilities clean and cater to families, and it's all free!!! during the summer months you should get there early and stake out your parking spot if you live nearby have someone Park their car there and then you can go back. I have so many wonderful memories of my son and I taking in all that this place has to offer and every time we went there, something different... Cruise ships leaving the harbor waving excitedly drinking champagne, finally there's a landing strip Logan airport uses just across the water a little bit and if you explain it to your child that it looks closed but they would have trouble swimming it, it gives them a reason to want to swim better!! there are no real beaches to say but there's a boardwalk that is fantastic for riding biking walking and there's something called the sugar bowl that stretches out in a loop and has a veranda halfway out with water on every side!!!!
