Every small town should have a place like this, and most usually do.
The classic diner with no frills or gimmicks. Just good home style cooking with excellent service and prices.
We did a nice walk through some of the trails at nearby Payne's Creek State Park and worked up a nice hunger for lunch.
Old school diners always cry out for us as they bring back such great memories of years gone by.
We are so glad we made the choice to stop in. She had the fried chicken sandwich with onion rings. Them are some seriously good, thin style, hand battered onion rings. Light and crispy. The chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly too.
I opted for the Meatlovers Skillet (all your typical breakfast meats atop fried potatoes, covered with sausage gravy and melted cheese along with 2 eggs thunderhead.
Back in Ohio we would have put that over two biscuits and called it a "Barnyard Buster" from a well known establishment in Columbus.
That being said, this was perfection on a plate. Nice portion size, no skimping on the meats, and tasted excellent.
Service is excellent, and prices are very fair for the times.
We always chat up the service and found out that this location is owned by the same couple that own Wooden Spoon in Lakeland, which we just reviewed a couple months ago.

Read moreHave you ever woken up on a weekend morning and had a craving for a good home cooked breakfast? We're camping in the area for just a few more days and then off to our next destination. They have plenty of waitresses to get quickly served and the food was delicious! I couldn't eat everything, there was a huge serving of an omelet, hash browns and a pancake. "Mr. Wonderful" had an egg and bacon sandwich which he said was very good as well. If you're looking for an excellent meal, you won't be...
Read moreFirst time going here and it was terrible. We went with a large group (about 25 people) and they put 5 chairs in a space meant for 3. The chairs were up against each other so that they rubbed when pulled out to sit. We had to move a couple of chairs so we could fit, then some of the group ended up sitting at a different table. When asked if another table could be added they said no. The service was super slow. The restaurant knew in advance the size of the group that was coming, yet there was no silverware or menus on the tables. We had to get our own menus. Waitress was slow to take orders. There was one waitress for a large group. Ordered Eggs and Ham with toast. Food was cold when I got it. Toast was so cold it was hard and the butter didn't...
