They nailed it! Just moved here from Southern California a few months ago and good Mexican food has been challenging to find here. However, we stopped in at Mex-Out for lunch and fell in love with this place. I tried the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, Tinga Chicken, and Carne Asada tacos. Wife had the Barbacoa Torta and we shared chips and salsa. The staff, atmosphere, and was top notch. These tacos, burritos, and tortas are just as good, if not better than the local street tacos in LA and San Diego. And, they have fused in the Chipotle line idea offering toppings, multiple salsas and sauces, guacamole, sour cream and all kinds of goodies. I especially liked the Jalapeno sauce as it is unlike any sauce I tried in SoCal. They also have Horchata and orange pineapple drinks as well as various Jarritos flavors and Mexican coke in bottles. I am always skeptical when ordering Al Pastor at a new taco joint but Mex-Out is legit Baja Mexican food and the fact that it's right here in Bowling Green, KY! Way to go Mex-Out! Knocked it out of the park for me. We will definitely frequent Mex-Out!

Updated review: still good, cheap, and filling. Still need sauces to pep up the flavor of the meats. Guacamole is very good with the chips. 1st visit: Mex-out is a good quick place to grab a bite. The menu is simple and has many different meats to choose from in a variety of packages like tacos, burritos, or tortas. Many sauces to choose from, which I found myself having to lean on to give my tacos some pep. The fillings were ample, and I was full after eating my three tacos..chorizo, al pastor, and barbacoa. Service was quick and place was clean.

This place offers an authentic Mexican taco at very decent prices. The service is fast and efficient and is being taken care of by friendly employees. The place is an open space with tables that is well lit and not overly decorated. This place has one job to do: to feed you delicious tasting Mexican food and it does so with gusto!

MexOut is a true hidden gem in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

It's located in an unsuspecting spot, buried in a strip mall next to a Subway. As a result, if you don't hear about it from a friend or happen to see it on Yelp, you'll likely just drive past it, not knowing that you've missed some of the best Mexican food you'll find in BG.

Inside you'll find only a handful of tables, so if you're looking to bring a group, I'd avoid peak times. The menu is laid out in a very straightforward manner, with less than 10 entree options available. The restaurant does a good job of presenting you with a variety of options to build off of those, so don't be concerned about this being a basic dining experience.

There are a number of meat options (go for the Al Pastor, it's their signature, not to be missed), and you can't really go wrong. The layout of the "assembly-line" style setup of the restaurant is familiar to anyone who's stepped foot inside a Chipotle, but you'll be faced with more authentic ingredients here.

As a first timer, I'd recommend you start with 4-5 street tacos and experiment with some of the protein options (just make sure at least one of those...

First off, the food is outstanding. Best around. But! The hours of operation are absolutely ridiculous! They close at 7pm! Says 9pm on website and all listings. It's false! They close at 7! Because of that, I won't be wasting anymore trips across town trying to support a local business that makes it nearly impossible to do business with because of their lame hours of operation. I work 20 miles south of BG. Get off work at 5:30. By the time I get home, gather the family and drive across town, these jokers are closed. Third time was the charm for me! Understandable during the recent past, but that's over now. Since Mex-Out is stuck in "pandemic mode". I will avoid them like they have the sickness! Disappointing for sure, but not worth the hassle. To many people making good tacos that have reasonable business hours to mess with this Mickey Mouse operation!...
