My brother and I highly recommend this if you love the taste of smoked bbq. I think the chicken was one of our favorite smoked chickens ever and the pulled pork had nice Smokey bark as did the brisket. We ordered a sample of literally everything. The sides were your typical offerings and they gave us generous portions .My brother and I have a bbq joint exploration hobby where ouur goal is to try and find the best bbq in America. We work in 32 states and this is a delicious distraction when away from home. The staff was very helpful and accommodating creating such a sampler plate for each of us that we enjoyed for the next three days. Value was amazing and the joy of eating smoked bbq while deep off grid at remote jobsites while other coworkers eat typical packed lunches is priceless. We overall liked all the smoked meats that were full of smoke flavor were fall off the bone tender and just perfect. There was an exception one smoked meat we could not identify that was dry and tough to cut or chew and no amount of the delicious sauces we had also procured from Smokey pig could make it so we could eat it. We never leave bbq behind but neither of us could figure out how to consume it. Going to guess this was once Viginia smoked ham that had gone to the other side of jerky to an industrialized dog chew. I have probably gone on to much about that one of 6 meats sampled. It was closing time and perhaps that was a thrown in bonus vs. throwing it out scenario. The staff like I said was super sweet and accommodating and we had insisted we sample everything they had to offer. We recommend Smokey Pig bbq if you love smoked bbq. We never forget the delicious smelling meat smoke filled lot. Can't wait to fill...
Read moreBrought my family of 6 here forlocal authentic bbq. Was here back in 2018 for work and the food was good. Now, in 2025 what has happened? My wife ordered the 3 rib plate wit Mac and cheese and potato salad. The ribs had virtually no bbq sauce on them and only tasted like they were rubbed with pepper. Had a lot of cartilage like bones in them. The potato salad was warm and runny. Did not taste homemade and if v it was it was the worst I've ever had. Walmart potato salad is far superior and so is my own. The Mac and cheese was bland, curdled, and cold. 0 flavor. Now to my children's pulled pork sandwiches. My child's face had a look of terror on it when he brought it back to the table. It looked like a pile of wet barf. My other son looked just as terrified. I said hopefully it tastes better than it looks. Well guess what? It didn't. There wasn't even bbq sauce added to the pork. What authentic bbq place serves their sauce on the side? Their sides were cold. I love bbq. I've been to rib fests and no good bbq. Plus chauns like chilling and even the Texas roadhouse provide better. It was disgusting. Would never return and would not recommend. My kids felt ill later that evening. Some of the worst food I've ever had at a restaurant. My husband felt bad as he said it went way downhill from 2018. We all laugh about it now. It was quite the experience on our summer...
Read moreThe Smokey Pig was suggested to us as a possible dinner destination on our way to the KHSAA football playoffs, and I'm glad we deiced to give it a try. None of our party of six had ever been there before, so we were kind of flying blind when it came to ordering. Because of that, we went with some advice and had the shoulder platter, dipped. This came with two sides, red skin mashed potatoes and vinegar slaw, but the meat was far and away the star of the meal. The meat was "dipped", which was supposed to make it more spicy, but I thought it just gave it more flavor, not heat. (I like spicy food, so YMMV.) The meal came with two slices of white bread and bbq sauce was found on the table. I just pulled the first piece of shoulder apart and dipped it in the sauce to get an idea for the overall flavor, which I found excellent. I ate two more slices as mini sandwiches with the white bread. (I think there were six slices in all. Think thick cut bacon+.) The sides were good, nothing to write home about, but they don't have to be. I could have ordered either mac & cheese or baked beans, which I will probably do the next time I visit, and there WILL be a next time. Well worth the trip if you're passing through...
