Came here for dinner. The bad started when she brought my diet soda and it tasted off, like the syrup bag was out. She brought me a can of soda with ice instead. Just change the damnn box of soda out. Because I ended up having to pay for the owners laziness. When I needed a refill, she brought another can and charged me for it…but there’s refills on the other soda. Got French onion soup and the ribs and steak dinner with a salad. The dinner said it came with a soup or salad. I had already ordered my soup and she didn’t offer to use my soup for the soup that came with the meal. Since I wasn’t in the mood for salad, most of that wasn’t eaten. It was what you’d expect for a dinner salad though. French onion came out in a crock with cheese melted. The soup taste was very good, however there wasn’t much for croutons or onions in it and the cheese layer was thin. I still thought it was decent because of the broth flavor. But then my ribs and steak came out. The steak was cooked perfectly! BUT there was zero flavor. I added lots of salt, pepper and A1. I moved onto the ribs which were completely inedible. The fat was so chewy that I couldn’t even bite into them. They looked so meaty when they came out, but it was all fat. The waitress, who I think was the owner (based on her personality), asked if they were okay, I explained they weren’t good. She didn’t really say anything. So why even ask? She states in other negative reviews to bring it to your servers attention if there’s an issue. I did that. I also barely ate any of my food. She didn’t offer to make new ones, didn’t offer a bill deduction, didn’t offer an apology. So why bother asking?? My aunt ended up getting chocolate cake for desert. It was so old that when she put the fork in, it crumbled. She took it home because she’s too nice to say anything. This was our family’s first time here and we won’t be going back. I’ve heard a lot of terrible things about this place and still took a chance on it, just to be disappointed. We should have left as soon as we walked in and the place was like a ghost town at dinner time. I see she responds to 1 star reviews very rudely so I’m sure I’ll get the backlash for this instead of the owner just owning the fact that her restaurant is going downhill due to her own doing.
Edit to add since they of course responded like the typical nasty establishment they’re known to be. In business 22 years, but the place is empty and they’re known for how nasty they are. And yes, you’re correct, the ribs pulled off the bone in one big chunk as they were connected by nothing but fat. I also stated I enjoyed the French onion soup, but nothing else. Believe me, I wasn’t looking for a price deduction🤣 I’m not a cheap a$$ or I wouldn’t have ordered that awful meal. And you’re correct, there was no pleasing me with that meal. It was terrible…but continue thinking you’re a wonderful establishment full of wonderful employees. Brothers buffet in Pottsville has also been in business for 23 years, it doesn’t mean they’re good is great. But it’s certainly better than what we were given at your establishment. Maybe instead of jumping to be nasty to patrons just because they leave a bad review, take the criticism gracefully and...
Read moreRestaurant seems quaint eat first until you take a closer look. The wait times for food orders, regardless of how busy they are or what you order, is so outrageous you may no longer be hungry by the time it gets to you. In all that extra time you take a closer look at the place and see how filthy everything is. It doesn’t seem that dirty at first till you start looking a little closer, which can be hard with how dark it is which could help mask it all. The bar is filthy the bartender is no better and I wouldn’t personally order anything unless it’s bottled and you open it. Also, if you catch a glimpse of their facilities, whether it is the bathroom or the kitchen which can be hard to tell apart in cleanliness, you’ll realize you should have stayed home. I will say however sometimes the food is actually good, but sometimes when you get he bill you start to realize it wasn’t that good. Always check your bill too, because I’ve had my bill be way overcharged multiple times. Whether it was they forgot the “special”, added two extra drinks on the bill, or just random price difference. When I go to restaurants I always take a pic of the menu so if they take the menu away you can cite it later, which has saved me here before.
Recent story, we went there for early dinner and ordered as soon as we got there and within the next hour while we waited for our food 6 other groups of people came in and got entire meals served before we got any of ours. We order burger and fries and I saw one table with seafood so neglect I guess. And no that night wasn’t surf and turf...
Read moreOur first visit to this restaurant & it was very disappointing. Our waitress Nicole was super nice & was running around trying to take care of everyone. We waited 2 hours for our food…2 steak dinners & a breaded haddock platter. Our steaks were lukewarm & I sent mine back to be reheated. My friend ate his because he was hungry & we waited so long at that point. We didn’t even get our salads for over an hour. When we checked with the waitress, she said each table was served as the orders were taken. We watched a table of 4 get appetizers, then their salads & then their dinners. We should have at least gotten our salads while they were eating their 3 courses. My friend had two 7&7’s then switched to club soda. He was surprised to be charged $2.75 for a club soda. Most places it’s free or &1.00. In any event, we will not be returning. Maybe they need to hire more kitchen help. How hard is it to make and...
