Best Italian food in the CT area!! BEST sandwiches & paninis. You can opt to have them heated or not. Obviously the ones that have sauce / they give you the sauce on the side. Other sandwiches there's a variety of dressings you can have put on top or on the side. My absolute favorites are the meatball & CKN Parm w/ fresh mozz. Every time I go I buy one of each usually get one pressed, the other not each with extra sauce on the side & sauce I'm the one that's being heated. They don't list them all on the website but some they have every single day. And say they have about 20 different sandwiches? They also have some homemade ready to go Pizza day can heat up but it's not like your normal Pizza it's like a stuffed pizza that sells quickly I get to try it it's a huge hit though! Many homemade pasta dishes & such as chicken parm, ravioli & all that is homemade from scratch. There's also different chicken dishes not everything is sauce based & dfferent kinds of seafood dishes, There are also vegetarian options. It depends on a daily basis you need to go in & ✓ out the refrigerator cases. Ready to go pop in the oven & cook them directions on the for the containers to let you know when you need to cook them by & how long. You can also freeze them for prob. before cookingl In the refrigerated section next to that always buy containers of chicken cutlets they have different size packages you could tell by the prices which are not bad the containers contain anywhere from 3-6 lg. nice & thin breaded cooked chicken. Also have eggplant too and grilled chicken. They also have what I call rice balls of course they call it by the correct Italian name that I cannot spell correctly even though I'm 1/2 Italian! Sorry I might go I will buy one package of each but they have as long as it's something that I will eat they always have the ones that are just rice & cheese. I also got the ones today called me for which is meat, cheese & rice. The other is pancetta, peas & cheese. Each container contains 4 lg. rice balls.. larger than meatballs & each container contains a cup of sauce in the container. My fave is the buffalo chicken but did not have them today. Both come with a spicy pomodoro / marinara sauce. That same case area they sell things from homemade stuffed bread so delicious nice and thin crispy you can actually see the filling on each end so you don't get tons of wasted though. Being solids, Olive mixes, pasta salads. So much for more I can't even list you have to go in there and check it out everything is homemade on the premises. Except the gelato which is great that comes from a place in New Haven. Any of the prepackaged stuff like the bottles of olive oil, calabrian Chili's, & bunch of other stuff is imported from italy. The owner is so sweet many of the recipes come from her grandmother or great grandmother that have been handed down. Her and her husband opened the store about 1 year ago so pleasant and nice. By the time you are too file the ingredients to attempt to make if these items you're better off just purchasing them here and putting them in the oven heating them up and dinner's ready to go and literally...
Read moreTwo days ago I stopped in for the first time. I certainly hope these people do well. They seem like a very nice sincere group of people. There is obviously a need for places that sell prepared meals especially in the Branford/Guilford area.
The Italian ice creams (gelato) displayed in the store were so tempting.....I can see myself back in the summer time trying ALL the flavors.
Sadly I was disappointed with the 2 dinners I purchased:
Sausage and Peppers The sausage was extremely dry. I found it unpleasant to eat.
Chicken Ascolano This dinner certainly looks good. The vinegar taste from the artichoke hearts was distracting and over powering. I would have preferred artichoke hearts that were packed in water. The 2 fried pieces of battered chicken were nice portions, but they were also very dry.
Cookies The fig cookies I purchased were wonderfully good....and YES, before the night was over I ate them all. I am tempted to go back and try the other flavors.
I was very uncomfortable to stay and look around simply because I was the only person wearing a mask. Not a single employee was wearing a mask. (I did not look into the right most refrigerator as there was an unmasked couple eating at a table extremely...
Read moreWas not impressed, store is filled but repeats itself a couple of times. You see the same product in 2 or 3 places. So they're deli case is full of delicious looking sandwiches. I go ahead and order one, they grab the old one that you can't see and cook that up for you.. The delicious ones in front still sitting there. Mine tasted a little rancid and the meat looked old. 12$ for a couple pieces of deli meat and a roll what a burn.. good luck any real Dell will make your sandwich to order, even going as far as slicing it to order also.. I should of known better but gave you the benefit, since it was a gift card it really only cost me about 3$. And do yourself a huge favor and ditch the waste you have with the gift card. I don't need a empty soup container, in this day we should all be very cautious on wasting natural resources, the plastic card...
