After reading reviews of other nearby Mexican restaurants, looking at menus and prices too, we though Tequila 2 sounded like the best choice. A few people mentioned they have "bad days" and at first I was worried that was the case while we were there. But apparently it's more than just that.
Although two employees were on their phones when we arrived, we were seated immediately and there was only one other family there, a party of 8. The waiter took our drink order pretty quick and I was hopeful. We looked over the menus and placed our order a while later. We started off with a small guac ($4), a small queso ($4.50) a coke ($2.25) and a water. The chips and salsa were decent. We ordered two beef burritos ($9.99) with queso ($1) instead of red sauce, a 3 item combo ($10+ $2 to substitute one meat for pork). He asked if I wanted rice and beans and I said no (additional $2.50).
As they brought out our food, I immediately noticed rice and beans on my plate. I ate half of my combo and no rice or beans. Everything tasted ok, nothing spectacular but that was ok for me.
It came time for our bill and I noticed they also charged for the rice and beans I specifically said I did not want. The waiter said I had to talk to the manager. I also noticed the added cheese on the two burritos was $2 and the coke was $3. The manager seemed very inconvenient that I had an issue with the check. I pointed out the three issues and was told "well the price isn't updated on the menu". I explained that's not my fault and you can't just charge whatever you want. Honestly, if they want to nickle and dime every little thing (dollop of sour cream or side of shredded cheese is $2!) Then I'll nickle and dime my bill.
I can only image how much extra money they make on people who don't look over the final bill. They tried to get $4 on just the two of us. We told the party behind us what happened, paid our bill then left.
Honestly I only gave them two stars because the food was ok and I had enough for leftovers. Aside from that they deserve less than one for essentially taking advantage of...
Read moreThree stars is being polite. I am from California and live in the West upon visiting Branson we decided to try tequilas 2 out. Now, to start with I have noticed most of the food places in Southern Missouri area are lacking flavor? I can't pinpoint it but it doesn't taste the same as at home. I spend plenty of time in Mexican restaurants , and this one felt not authentic. First off there was no bar! How are you supposed to get a drink while you're waiting to be seated? How are you supposed to stop in and watch a sports game and have a drink? I don't recall ever being at a Mexican restaurant without a bar. I ordered the steak fajitas. The steak meat actually had some flavor, the onion bell pepper meat combination came out on a hot plate, but looked like it was cooked in bulk earlier and then scooped out onto the hot plate, the bell peppers and onions all Blended together in a soup like oil, no color, no flavor, not crunchy fresh veggies, soggy! Also my entire tables food came out in less than 10 minutes telling me it none of it was cooked fresh. The salsa for the chips had not a hint of spicy, it was very Bland. And also there was no Cholula on the table or Tabasco. Strange... I like the theme I like the location, it was very busy in there for what reason I don't know. If you want to improve the quality of your food try looking at a restaurant such as El Toreo West in Palmdale California. I have been stopping in that place all of my life and I go out of my way to go there because it's...
Read moreLet me start off by saying our meals were great. The salsa was some of the best we've had. My wife had a taco salad, my son some steak and cheese fries, and I had a mixed plate of different enchiladas, all great. Now the not so great. We came in and two gentlemen were talking at the front desk. Neither acknowledged us or said hello. I said hello a couple of times and one simply grabbed some menus and rushed off without waiting for us. By the time we caught up to him, he was already rounding the corner and headed back to the front and simply pointed to our booth. Our server brought out some chips/salsa and she didn't say hello either, just said, "what do you want to drink?" Took our drink order and walked away. In the meantime, the two men from the front started setting up two large tables for a large party of like 10-12, and led THEM to their table, took their order, kept their drinks filled and even got some of their food orders to them before we received ours despite us being seated first, all while we didn't receive a single drink refill or additional chips/salsa. When the time came for our check it was dropped off without a word while this large party was fawned over for their every need. Now, I'm sorry my 46$ order wasn't enough to warrant the attention a larger party received, but to not even get a hello or goodbye? Again, the food was great, but single handedly the worst customer service I've ever received from a...
