I can wrap this review up in just a few words but , I can't. If you have followed any of my reviews, you will clearly be chomping at the bit to try this GEM . I can let you know I have rated many eateries and , the new England house has ranked in my top 3 . Well done to this wonderful Vermont restaurant . My wife and I have traveled to many states here in the USA . We dine quite a bit in all areas and types of cuisine. From the time you walk in you are taken to a place where you just know you can relax , let your stress go . I'm sure y'all are saying I wish this man would just get to the meat and vegetables about this place . Well, ok . Here is some of the highlights that will hopefully grab your attention and , have you sitting at one of there tables . I did ask if it would be OK to mention names and , was told , that would be great . So here we go . Curt and Selma ( the owners ) have made the place someplace we will return to . Daelyn our waitress deserves a special shout out . We started off with the most gracious greeting from Selma . After we were seated in a cozy table for two , we had this lovely young lady ( Daelyn ) with such a bubbly personality come up and gave to us the best tasting water . We where told that every item on this menu is made from scratch by ( CURT ) . My wife decided to order the chicken cheese sandwich ( on homemade rolls ) fries ( extra crispy ) and pesto . I went another route . Bacon Broccoli chicken Alfredo. I can definitely give you a big YES on my chose . If the homemade Alfredo doesn't do it for you . Try the homemade French onion soup ... oh my . The chicken sandwich I was advised was AWESOME . We did choose to order desert ... wow . Creme bruelet. I do recommend trying the desert . Prices are very reasonable and fair . Building is so quaint and comfortable . A must when you are in the area .eat well traveler's. Be kind ,...
Read moreMy husband and I had a horrible experience at The New England House. I'm not one to write reviews, but their poor customer service needs to be heard about! We went out to eat with some friends, and had some drinks too. My husband ordered a steak that was absolutely horrible. He sent it back, and the waitress offered to get him something else. He had lost his appetite at that point, and was not interested in ordering anything else. When the bill came, he noticed that it hadn't been removed. We were surprised by this, especially since he only took one bite of the steak. He brought it to the waitress's attention, and she said that her Manager wouldn't let her remove it. My husband spoke with Manager and he very bluntly stated that he wouldn't remove it because it looked fine to him. Whether it looked fine or not, removing an item from a bill for a dis-satisfied customer is customer service 101. He didn't care about our satisfaction what-so-ever. My husband and I own a catering business, and he's been a chef/restaurant manager for the past 15 years... He knows what he's talking about! I think I should add that our bill was over $200 - We clearly weren't just trying to be cheap. Needless to say, we haven't been back and when anyone asks us about the New England House we tell them about this situation and the opt to choose a...
Read moreWe were seated quickly although I'd recommend making a reservation. We didn't but they were able to squeeze us in but I felt like it caused issues for them in the end. Our server was friendly and attentive and very genuine. I ordered the clam chowder, which was tasteful and packed with plenty of clam. I also got the shrimp scampi which honestly could have had more flavor. It didn't even really have a garlic taste to it though you could see garlic clove pieces. There was a decent amount of shrimp that had a nice smoke after taste to them. In the end this plate was $19. My boyfriend got the surf and turf which came with a side of mashed potatoes and it looked liked steamed spinach. The surf literally only included two small pieces of shrimp and two okay sized pieces of steak. But for the $24 you pay for the plate, it was not worth it. We ended the night with blueberry cheesecake and cream puffs. You get a personal sized cheesecake which is nice, but unfortunately the blueberries on top were not that good, thankfully they can be scraped off! The cream puffs were fresh and delicious, and topped with melted dark chocolate. In the end, I'd maybe come back to try the...
