As an actual customer i am not happy to hear this is how they handle the staff...
I am trying not to embarrass her so I’ll only say “a 2023 Clay city graduate who previously worked at Starbucks” excited accepted a position at local coffee shop “Gotcha coffee” in Brazil about 2 months ago. This smiling happy girl was told she would be paid weekly at minimum wage hourly atleast ( I don’t know the actual amount but I know it was atleast that) and would be closer to home. Several weeks go by, no check, she was not allowed to keep any tips, and about week 4 she speaks up, gets run around for a while, told she would get a check to make up for it. As she never did, she turns in her 2 week notice, but was let go as soon as she mentions to the company accountant she never has been paid. Finally, Owner comes back with a check, her FIRST CHECK, and says she found an Indiana loophole allows paying training for youth under 20 for 90 days at minimum of $4.75 hr so that’s all she will get for her entire time there. This girl works for 6+ weeks UNPAID FOR HALF of what she owed, and those tips were never included and paid forward to her. If this had been said upfront, agreed at hire- sure. But it wasn’t, ever, and I find it to be disappointing that a local business could be so dishonest to one of the sweetest girls I know. Who didn’t deserve how they preyed upon the young inexperience of an 18 year old who was too respectful to tell them to get bent the first day they said she couldn’t even...
Read moreWhat an unexpected little gem hidden in small town Indiana! Gottcha is a cute, totally trendy cafe and a great spot to grab a coffee and a quick bite to eat.
I stopped in for lunch as I was passing through town and was pleasantly surprised with all the menu offerings. Brewed coffees, lattes, teas and other beverages plus bagels, pastries and a rotating lunch option. I ordered a half/half Cobb salad and Jack & Tom grilled cheese sandwich. Both were loaded with flavorful ingredients, and the combo was plenty of food to fill me up, otherwise I would have loved to try one of the delicious looking sandwich cookies. Also I can’t forget to mention, they have the good ice!
The super friendly staff gives Gottcha a warm and welcoming vibe, and the hand-written “remember to smile” message on my tea cup was such a sweet, personal touch! My only wish was to see less single-use plastic silver ware and containers for dine-in service. Still, I will definitely plan to stop there again whenever I’m...

I’ve had coffee in six different countries and more cities than I can count, and the cappuccino I had at Gottcha is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced—it really stood out.
I also tried their signature drink, the Lazarus (espresso with cream and sugar), and it was just as good. Bold flavor, not too sweet, and super satisfying.
The shop is locally owned by a mother and daughter who also run the daycare next door. They source their beans from Indy Coffee Roasters, and you can tell they care about quality and community.
The atmosphere is cozy, the service is friendly, and the coffee is top-tier. The staff are also super friendly and willing to chat.
Whether you're local or just passing through Brazil, IN, this place is absolutely worth a stop....
