I came to have tiki cocktails and dinner but this wasn’t quite what I was expecting. To lead, it did start raining so that forced everyone inside and they were already very busy on the weekend. I think I’ll try coming on a week night if I am ever in that part of the state again.
First, you should know to manage expectations. Besides the drinks and some decor, this is not exactly a tiki bar. It’s more of a loud, regular bar that happens to have some tiki drinks. There is a single long line to order cocktails and pizza. Don’t plan on making multiple orders because the line is slow and long. The line runs In front of the bar where drinks are placed for pickup. You’ll need to hang around the busy area and watch for your drink to be put up, slide through the line and collect it.
The cocktails we had were pretty average. Better than a local bar or restaurant but not on par with full tiki bars. No unique glassware or garnishes. Many familiar recipes.
We also ordered the chicken cracklins. Aside from how the whole process of ordering food and drinks, my biggest complaint was the chicken cracklins. I’m not sure if I was duped or someone confused chicken nuggets with chicken cracklins. They tasted fine, but it’s like ordering boudin and getting sausage - it’s very different things. The dish would be improved if the peanuts were crushed instead of whole and either featured chicken cracklins or named more...
Read moreI always like looking for different spots to eat when I galivant around visiting places. I had seen a brochure for this place at several visitors centers I have gone to, and it fits the bill in being unique, different and on a road less traveled. So, when I had made a plan to see other things nearby, I knew I had to come. You go in and order. Your soft drink comes in a to go cup, but you can get free refills. I placed my order for "A Streetcar Named Diablo" pizza that came with mozzarella cheeses, Cajun saucer tomato sauce, andouille, fried pork skins and several other toppings. Oh. My. Goodness, this is everything. Spicy, sweet, yummylicious. I got a second pizza to take home with me, the "Bobby Boucherie" with mozzarella cheese, Cajun saucer habanero bacon jam, andouille, jalapeno bonbons and some other toppings. I had a piece when I got home and it was just as freaking good. You walk to the counter, place your order and pick your seat. It is attached to a brewery. There were several interesting alcoholic beverages, but since I had a way to drive home, I did not partake. Come. Service is friendly. Prices are...
Read morePretty much gourmet pizza! Unexpected combinations on the pizzas. Every pizza I've tasted has been delicious! Lots of arcade machines to play on as well! Lots of alcohol to choose from. Outside seating if you'd like to, as well as inside dining. You order from the desk, pay, and get a little buzzer to bring with you. It goes off when it's ready, and you pick up your pizza in a to-go box. So, when you're finished, you just pick it up and leave! Super friendly...
