Wooden Peel — Restaurant in Bremen

I grew up in Michigan City where we had an Italian restaurant that was voted "best of northern Indiana" so they'd really have to have a pizza be outstanding to have me like it. And I do not like their pizza. It tastes like they put sauce, cheese and your toppings on the cardboard circle that goes under the pizza and cooked it that way. Also when you order a sausage pizza, you get unseasoned hamburger meat. That is not sausage Wooden Peel. Also, I understand most of Bremen loves this place so it gets busy on the weekends. But a two hour wait for 1 large cheese pizza is appalling. What they do get major props for are the following: cheese balls & mozzarella sticks, French fries and their turkey sandwich. The 3 fried foods I mentioned are amazing and that turkey sandwich is outstanding. Just not a fan of their pizza. They also have a couple ladies there who aren't people persons, or maybe it's just me. But it's a cozy atmosphere, the prices aren't terrible and they serve beer. I go there a few...

The Wooden Peel has the best pizza! Seriously, the smokiness taste, perfect balance of ingredients spread out on your pizza (they take the time to make an artful pie), the small town quaintness is just perfect. My favorite part is that they always do square cuts. Our weekly Friday night go to. Our go to is garlic cheese bread along with a medium pizza with sausage, Canadian bacon, green pepper, onion, and pineapple. Perfect for a family of 3 with leftovers. I will say they aren't the friendliest upon entering and acknowledging you, but they are super busy, so I chalk it up to capacity. Great food, quick prep, and you get to watch the staff make your pizza right behind the counter :) cashiers seemed a bit lofty though. Was asking for a pizza with added toppings and interrupted me asking if I just wanted a certain named specialty pizza on the menu. There are no descriptions of what is on some of the specialties and so I couldn't help but give a blank stare and ask what was on that pizza that was different than what I ordered. Wasn't much different but it was a bit discouraging being a first time customer and perhaps expected to know some things coming in blindly. 4 stars because that was only 2 minutes of my hour long visit, the other 58 minutes was home baked...
