This place is so good! I saw them appear on Facebook last month and couldn't wait to try them out once I saw how close they were to me. The menu looked really good, and I have never tried Hawaiian food except for from one of those cheesy chain places in Arizona.
I actually wanted to be the first person to review this place but someone beat me to it darn it.
My son and I went to go try this on a lazy Saturday afternoon. We pulled into the parking lot and found a spot right up front with no issue, but I can tell this lot fills up pretty quickly, so finding parking could be an issue from time to time. I would assume especially during lunch and dinner times. When we arrived, it was pretty much empty with the exception of one other table wrapping up their food.
The cashier is so friendly as well as the cook. I'm pretty sure they were the owners and they both greeted us with big smiles. We sat down to wait and enjoyed their complimentary water. Once the other guests left, the cashier offered us the remote to the television mounted to the wall in case there was something else we wanted to watch. I found that to be a super sweet touch.
The place itself is very small and a bit of a dive. The tables are old and wobble and there's not much decoration aside from a couple flags and the TV. The kitchen is separated by a curtain which allowed all of the delicious smells and BBQ smoke waft into the dining room and make my stomach growl like crazy. I could tell we were being saturated in the smoke and I couldn't wait to eat this food. Every time the cook walked by the order window, I got excited. It did take a while to come out, but that only means one great thing, that it's made to order and from scratch instead of taken out of some heating bin.
The first food to come was the 5 piece Lumpia we ordered to share. They were golden brown and soooo crispy. Filled with delicious ground pork and veggies. I have zero complaints about this Lumpia and is my favorite Lumpia in Bremerton so far. Next to come out was my son's order which was Beef Teriyaki. After taking one bite of the beef, his eyes lit up and he INSISTED that I try a bite of it right away. This kid never does this, and is usually the type of person who only eats because he's hungry and not because he cares about flavor so it really made an impression on me when he was so excited by the flavor of this beef. He wasn't wrong, it was amazing. Best teriyaki beef, if not just straight up grilled beef I've ever had. The choice of meat along with whatever they marinade it in was the perfect combination of savory and sweet with just the right amount of fat on the meat still. My order came out next which was the Loco Moco. I've wanted to try Loco Moco for years and finally had my chance. It was really good as well. The burgers were a little overdone for my liking, but I know Island cooking is usually always on the overdone side, so no complaints. The gravy was tasty and the mac salad on the side wasn't too shabby if not a little bland, but again Hawaiian mac salad is different than what most are used to, much more simple.
The prices were great, and we were completely full when we finished. He could only finish half his plate and the two of us could only eat two Lumpia each before calling it quits. We had leftovers for his mom which she appreciated and nibbled on all night.
All in all, I'm so glad this place has opened up, and I need to be careful how often I eat here, otherwise I may get very large! I can see they have a lot of support from their friends and family and also there were return customers coming in saying "we're back!" when we were leaving so it looks like they're on the path to success here in Bremerton. I can't wait to go back myself and try the other menu items like the pork and chicken dishes and maybe try my hand at taking some pictures since the ones up so far just aren't doing the...
Read moreEver since I returned from vacationing on Kauai I have been on the hunt for authentic AND delicious Hawaiian food. This place certainly hit the spot today. A little hole in the wall place, it definitely reminded me of some of the hole in the wall gems we found in Hawaii. Operating on what can only be described as "Island time," it definitely had an authentic feel to the vibe of the place. So, what does that mean...? It's not fast food. You will probably have a bit of a wait, even if it's just you in the place. But that's okay, with the delightful sounds coming from the Polynesian influenced music and the smell of delicious food, it will feel like no time at all. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ chicken with Mac salad and I had the ever so taditional loco Moco which was...
Read moreNo way! They appeared to be completely disorganized! Had to go to the corner store several times to get supplies, lumpia ( no Luna lumpia) which is supposed to be hand made vs frozen processed version. Someone ordered the spam dish , no spam walked to corner store bought spam, no seaweed so back to the store they went! Really not even the basics , ordered chicken stir fry took 30 minutes I can only guess they had to go get the chicken! Only veggie in the stir fry was cabbage and carrots and they were burnt! I had food from here before that was good which is why I went back! Very disappointed, if this is the level and quality I...
