So picture this: we walk in, party of 6, ready to grub. There’s literally two other tables with folks seated. It’s a seat yourself spot, so we post up. Took about 7 minutes for someone to even wander over. No “Hi y’all, welcome,” no smile, no “thanks for being here.” Sis just hit us with a flat, “What y’all drinking?”
Cool. We all order water, my daughter asks for a lemonade. Had to ask for menus because apparently, they thought we just came to hydrate and stare at each other.
While looking at the menu, we overhear her at another table saying food’s gonna be 20–25 minutes. Reminder: this place was emptier than my gas tank when payday’s still 3 days away. But okay, maybe the chef’s back there hand-raising the chickens and harvesting the lettuce.
Ten minutes go by, crickets. No check-in, nothing. So we left a couple bucks on the table for the lemonade and started heading out. Suddenly, here she come sprinting out like “Oh, y’all good?” Ma’am. Please.

Read moreWe decided to try out this place. I’ve heard others suggest it but in all of the years of operation I’ve never been. Tonight it’s one and done.
First and foremost they are under staffed for the amount of large parties they have going on. That being said, it took forever for service. I was “safe” to order fried catfish. How hard can it be, right???
Once we finally got our food it was piping hot, but that was really all that I can say about it. The fries were battered with some sort of batter and they were soggy. The fish had non traditional batter that was more flour than cornmeal and it was not seasoned enough at all. It was very bland. The coleslaw was very vinegary with only a few mustard seeds in it.
The cleanliness of the entire place was questionable. Not really what I had expected at all. I’ve learned my lesson and I definitely know to go across town to one of the other places that we normally go to next time we...
Read moreThe food was very good and our service was excellent.... Our waitress, Virginia, was courteous and informative when we asked about menu items. She also checked us to make sure we were ok and to see if we needed or wanted anything and to ask if the food was to our liking. Service is everything in the restaraunt business, good food matters also of course but as long as service is top notch people will come back time and again and are more understanding if food comes out wrong (for example) than they would if the server were rude as well. But yall have it all great food and excellent service. Thank you, Virginia and On Deck for a wonderful dining experience. It was my first time dining at this establishment but I will for sure be a returning customer and will tell anyone I know and meet about On Deck and the excellent service and amazing food. At...
