Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter. When it comes to the sort of place Laurino's advertises to be, a place with pizza and Italian Fare, I seek three things. Mozarella Sticks, Calamari, and Pizza.
When we found this nice little eat in place, I was hopeful. Especially since I'd neglected to eat much that day.
The mozzarella sticks were severely lacking. They seemed almost under cooked, like there was corn starch between the breading and cheese. It was a small portion, so my mother and I couldn't really protest having both eaten half.
The calamari plan was over priced and small-and that was before I realized half of it was actually breaded and fried banana peppers disguised as squid rings. In past experiences, those are set among the fried food, but easy to distinguish. Instead, about half of the plate was the banana pepper ambush.
[When this was protested, the Hostess insisted that the menu said this what it would be served like. Their menu is online, so I can testify that this is not the case.]
And as for the pizza-well, it was globs of cheese that tasted like plastic, melted into form but in no way holding onto the crust. In fact, it fell from the crust, exposing the hot tomato sauce so the one eating it might accidentally burn themselves. You know, having assumed the cheese would stay on the pizza.
Now, originally I thought the woman who served us was just a waitress. But judging by the fact that she insisted their pizza was famous (which it could be, there are limited options, but I identify Orleans Villa, George's Pizza House, and Shaws as creating better), and that the menu said the peppers were served that way.
In fact, she seemed content to not charge us as if she was kicking us out, if it could mean denying everything we said against the food. So terrible food (that it so happened, what little my mother and I ate, made us sick), and even worse service. There are far...
Read moreSo we're on vacation and we're craving fish and chips, I type into google "fish and chips" and several restaurants in the area pop up. So we look at prices, reviews, location etc. and decide on Laurino's. Tap the menu button "fish and chips" $11.99 and a "fisherman's platter - fish, shrimp and scallops" $15.99. Call in the order, pick up in 20 minutes, drive to Nauset Beach to eat. Open the bag...fish was either cooked far too long or fried in old grease... open the platter... there's half a piece of fish, 5 pieces of shrimp, NO scallops and more fries than anyone would want to eat. Thinking I got the wrong order or misread the menu, I pulled the menu back up on my phone, then I realized I way overpayed. $11.99 and $15.99 plus the tax should be somewhere around $30. But I just payed $38.80. I called the restaurant to ask about the platter, and I'm told they dont carry scallops any more and the platter is now $21.99. The fish and chips also went up in price and is now $15.99. The person I spoke to was very rude. She tells me "that's what you get for looking at menus from Yahoo, do you need anything else, cause I have to go." I was so appalled I had to hang up. I waited about 10 minutes to call back to speak with a manager, and guess what, the rude employee, who could care less about a customer, the quality of food they serve, or the reputation of the establishment.....was...
Read moreWe ordered 180$ worth of food for take out, and our 3 large pizzas were messed up. We ordered a BBQ chicken pizza with red onions and garlic, which ACTUALLY had pineapple, green peppers, regular onions with the chicken and garlic. The pepperoni pizza that we requested had literally 3 slices of pepperoni on the pizza. Then our last pizza was supposed to be just chicken and pesto, but they put tomatoes and onions on it when we clarified several times over the phone for no tomatoes or anything extra on any of our pizzas. We tried calling to discuss this, and the lady on the phone was unprofessional and disrespectful. She told my grandmother she should have looked at the menu online to know how the pizzas come, when THE WEBSITE DOESN'T HAVE SPECIALIZED PIZZAS LISTED AND ONLY HAD THEM OFFERED BY THE NUMBER OF TOPPINGS. And that’s bold of her to assume my grandmother would be able to have access to the internet in that way. To add to this, she did not answer the phone very nicely and hung up without trying to figure out any solution. This is so sad because we have been going here for YEARS and it ruined my brothers special...
