The building was cool. The waitress was attentive enough; helpful but straight to the point and kept up on refills. Unfortunately the food was a let down.
The starter chips were fresh which is nice, but they weren't seasoned so were very bland. The mild salsa was just tomato paste. The hot was tomato paste with onion.
I ordered the enchiladas; one ground beef and one chicken/mushroom topped with queso and a side of rice and beans. The rice was flavorless. The beans tasted like the canned storebought kind, but more runny like it was watered down. The queso sauce also seemed watered down and you could barely taste it despite the enchiladas being smothered in it.
The enchiladas themselves were in some sort of white corn tortilla instead of the more common flour tortilla. I would have ordered something else had I known, as I do not like corn tortillas. Their menu did not mention this nor did the waitress.
The enchilada contents were also unseasoned and bland. The ground beef was okay at best after I salted it.
The other one had dry overcooked chicken and dense undercooked mushroom. I do not have texture issues with food but that combination along with the lack of any taste was very unpleasant to the point I couldn't continue eating that one.
Ultimately it was a major disappointment. Their reviews were good and we drove by multiple times to see them completely packed throughout the day so we had much higher expectations than what...
Read moreWhat Dos Chiles Grandes is REALLY about. Today January 12 my dad celebrated 100 years of birth. Being a survivor of Pearl Harbor and Normandy which they did not know; we found out yesterday of the party and we are located in Oregon and Washington; making it a no go for us to show up personally. This woman Evelyn during prepping for this party took her valued time; this establishment created our dad to be so happy beyond belief that we could celebrate with him as a result of Zoom and their laptop. There is so much more to this story; that doesn't need to be relayed. And as a result of that; Evelyn you have no idea what you have done for hearts across the miles. And this is what the people of Dos Chiles Grandes believe in. Connecting and celebrating Life even during a very busy party; that needed prepped and foods cooked and prepared.
We send prayers of thanks; appreciation and gratitude for the Dos Chiles Grandes owners, employees and their families. You are fortunate to have this business in your community; they understand human kindness; stepping up unconditionally, no matter what.
I thank you so...
Read moreA cheerful young lady brought us chips and salsa. The salsa was bland for our tastes, we like our Scoville ratings high; but most Americans don't like the heat. Can never go wrong with cheese and spinach enchiladas. Went well with a side of rice and beans and some of their good tortillas. I knew it was Tex Mex restaurant when I ordered in flawless Spanish and our waitress had no idea what I was saying. The place has a good ambiance and tall ceilings so the noise is at a minimum. We all enjoyed our dinners. Food was pretty good and there was a lot of it. All in all we were satisfied with our experience. We would be glad to return in the future. They just might want to shake up their spice rack a bit, as their food could use a bit more fire and spice to get up...
