I need to change my rating back to a 5. Not only did I received a personal, honest, heartfelt apology from the owner, I also revisited Smileys and received an absolutely great product and was treated very respectful by the Smileys employees I also did some checking and spoke with someone associated with the dairy. The parking lot curfew is being enforced by them, not Smileys. So please don't blame the owner or the crew if you are approached at closing time. It is not coming from Smileys. Unfortunately some customers did not/do not abide by the rules/requests of the farm and have put the farm/animals at potential risk. It's a shame that some would be so disrespectful and do this. Looking foreward to the new Smileys location (September??) just up the road.
(Original post) I had given this place 5 stars in the past, have frequented it many many times and have filled at least 10 or 12 loyalty cards but after my experience last night, I must change my rating and have no desire to go back. Why were we approached while still in line at 11 minutes til 9 by one of your employees (who was very rude about it to me and others in line looking at his cell phone, tapping it, and reading off the time. Not just once but to each waiting customer), to tell us that your parking lot closes at 9 when we hadn't even ordered yet. Why did he try to approach my car when we had just gotten in it (at 902) after receiving our cones of ice cream to remind us the parking lot was closed. (In which I politely told him you have already talked to us in line and by the way. "I will not try to drive and eat this ice cream cone!"). Who was the lady encouraging him to approach each customer in line and walk to each car to tell them the parking lot was closed not wanting to allow anyone to finish their ice cream. Approaching customers cars. REALLY??? What kind of customer service is this? It was rude and wasn't even said politely. Why???? Not only that but they obviously did not rinse the scoops between orders My granddaughter ordered peanut butter extreme and got a chunk of raspberry or some pink ice cream in the middle. They must of done hers right before mine because I ordered salted caramel chunk and got a chunk of peanut butter in mine. I'm glad mine was the second because my other granddaughter (got the 3rd cone) ordered salted carmel chunk also but can't eat peanuts, they give her an upset stomach. Come on Smileys your employees should know better. Rinse the scoops when scooping a new flavor. Don't slack just because your busy and in a hurry. I was a general manager in food service for 25 years and this is not the way you show appreciation and respect for your customers. Don't forget it is the customers who sign...
Read moreMy fiancé lives not too far from here and I'm across the mountain but she has taken me here I think twice. Once at the old location to pick up ice cream for someone and then more recently we stopped at the new location to get ice cream for ourselves on a hot day.
I won't talk about the old location because I don't remember too much of it but the new location is beautiful! The few ice cream shops I've been to before seemed kind of tight on space and/or not a lot of tables but that is not the case here. There was plenty of indoor seating with tables nice and spaced out. There was even a room inside you could go sit down and enjoy your ice cream or shake. There's even a porch with a walk up window they have open sometimes and tables on the porch to sit outside. The walls at least where we sat at have newspaper clippings or awards they've won all framed or mounted up. What little I had the chance to read about the business I enjoyed.
The menu and pricing is clear and they have a decent amount of flavors with some that change out either weekly or monthly. Don't go expect 31 flavors like BR but this place is local and the mix for the ice cream is local too plus they sell local milk. Can't get that from BR! I felt like the pricing was reasonable and you can get as many as I think four scoops (they can all be different flavors) with the price for each scoop listed.
The staff was friendly, the ice cream was great and shop was clean! If you want great ice cream in the valley and if you're a fan of local businesses and/or farms this place is local as can be for what...
Read moreAll fresh homemade ice cream. This place is set on a cow farm because the people that own this ice cream place own the farm and get the cream from the cows. There are places to sit outside and places to sit inside. There are plenty of parking spots as well. All the staff was friendly. There are fresh flowers and cleansing wipes on the tables inside that we sat at. They even have a separate area inside that looks like it is a closed off room to maybe have a birthday party or something.
I got the salted caramel chocolate chunk. It was vanilla ice cream with chocolate chunks (flat) with salted caramel sauce which tasted like heaven. Our friends got the chocolate ice cream which he said was good. Also, they got the butter pecan which she said was amazing. So fresh and creamy.
I would definitely go back here again. Our friends actually went back a second time before they left the area to go back home.
Smiley's also has ice cream quarts for sale in the fridge and some at a discount They sell milk as well and some other items. There are plastic silverware and napkins right near...
