CANCUN CAFE & MEXICAN GRILL — Restaurant in Bristol Township

So we had gotten food from here for a couple of years now. There have been times where the food was amazing and there have been times where the food was pretty bland. I am NOT writing this review only after a bad experience. This review is purely based on the good and bad experiences i had with this restaurant.

Cost: This is not your normal inexpensive dine in / out experience. They first started off fairly affordable (dinner for 6 used to avg $50 or so) I'm sure with the wage increase and Covid hitting they took a massive hit so in which the consumer had to endure it as well. Dinner for 6 now (4 plain taco dinner for kids) and other items runs us just about $100. Sure it's a huge increase but we do like their food and want to support their business but not as much as we used to (had it at least 2-3 times a month)

Food: Their Food quality is very good in my opinion. The meat is cooked well and they have plenty of options to choose from. I never really complained too much about their food other than occasionally it being bland but salt for your own taste. Everything seems to be in line for it to be "Authentic" Their Plating skills is something that i would find my own mother doing, which is plating it to eat not to showcase for Instagram.

Customer Service: This is where the line sometimes gets blurred and a huge reason as to why I'm rating at 3/5 instead of 4/5. Calling in for a order is a risky shot. If the Person on the other line doesn't understand much or doesn't hear correctly this is where most of the issues stem from. People please understand not everyone is able to take down order's perfectly every single time. It gets busy loud or just in a rush.

I ordered today (the 4 taco dinner for my kids) and over the phone it sounded like the lady has bit of trouble understanding what i was saying. so i got my total and the time it would be ready. I show up and was going over the order once again and it turned out that she thought i wanted 1 taco dinner with 4 tacos instead of 3. Lucky enough i didnt have to wait so long for the correct order just somethings you need to check before leaving the restaurant.

They messed up one order with my wife and was missing a whole meal and had to Re-Buy said meal. Nothing really got hashed out from it.

I know this is a lengthy review but if you took the time to read it all hope it helped a bit. In Summery The food is cooked well it may be bland at times but salt can fix that up properly. Always check your order when arriving and check the items before leaving. Understand that They are short staffed and doing their best. Ok so I was coming to this restaurant since it opened up. I immediately fell in love with the food and the people were very friendly. The more they kept growing I think they just got overwhelmed and were not providing the best costumer service they could of been providing. I made reservations for my daughter's graduation hours ahead of time for over 10 people. You would think that if I am making reservations and they confirm with me that I would come in and I would not have issues. Well I come in and there was not any table available for me party, which is a huge inconvenience. They had half my party sit and the other standing. Once we finally got all seated we ordered our food, and again the costumer service wasn't at all there. Once it's time to pay the check they want us to pay that 15% gratituity, but what service besides our food was actually being provided. Like I think since they had us waiting for a good 20 to 30 min to even sit they should of waived that gratituity. Then the waitress was giving my mom a hard time. Again very poor costumer service was extremely dissatisfied. The food is great, but if you want to make reservations for a large party I suggest you go some where else. I am being nice with 2 stars. I normally LOVE Cancun Cafe, I came in Cinco de mayo and I tried calling ahead the host was confused about my request for the wait time. I show up the door is swapped with Uber & doordash orders. Which I understand is difficult to manage. We sat after 30 minute wait. Not Bad. Took server another 10 minutes to even notice we were sat. Finally got order in. My food took over an hour to prepare, nothing fancy a gordita, tacos and chicken en mole. While i waited the hour I saw over 20 to go orders leave the restaurant. The lady who took my order actually refused to box my food to go because I was over waiting there. I got thru with the hostess to box my food and pay the check when I look at the receipt the order was not even right they forgot my chile relleno. I think the owners need to look at the system in place and workout a better way to keep the GUEST in the restaurant as happy as the TO-GO orders those were pumping out in 20mins while I waited an HOUR.
