Still the same after all these years! My parents used to take me to Georgine’s as a kid 30+ years ago. Still the same menu, same dining room, same everything. I think the last time I was there before tonight was my senior prom in 1997. Very nostalgic, it’s almost like stepping back in time. I’ll let you know that I am a chef and restaurant owner so I am probably pickier than your average diner. We arrived a little late for our 6pm reservation, wasn’t an issue. Party of 9 for my birthday. Had my 3 daughters with us, my youngest is 2. We were sat around 6:10. Our server came over right away and took drink orders. She was super nice. After that interaction though, the service was waaaaaay too slow and inattentive. She didn’t take our food order until almost 6:40. The night continued that way. Long periods of not checking on us. One thing you guys need to impress upon your wait staff is people with young children have a window of time much smaller than a table without kids. Have to be prompt and keep it moving. If it were packed and she was quadruple sat I would be more sympathetic, but that wasn’t the case. I shouldn’t have to ask multiple times for refills or scan the room over and over to try to get someone’s attention. After finishing dessert I had to get up and go to the hostess stand to ask for my check because we were just sitting there for 15 minutes. We didn’t leave until after 8:30. Food was decent. Caesar salad was delicious. I’m gonna guess it was Ken’s Classic Caesar dressing which is the best. Salad was good. Apps we got calamari, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders for the kids, onion rings, French onion soup, snapper soup. Calamari was cooked perfect, nicely seasoned. Chicken tenders were strips of chicken cutlet. Flavorless but cooked nicely. Zero seasoning on them. Soups were good, mozzarella sticks were good. I got the veal Georgine which is what I always got when I was a kid. Presentation wasn’t great. It used to be veal topped with sauce and scallops. I got a square plate with veal on one side and the sauce and scallops next to it. The sauce was all over the rim of the plate, I’m guessing it shifted a lot when being carried out. Just looked sloppy. Also on the corner of the plate was an edible flower and 5 long dead and wilted chives. Doesn’t add anything to the dish. You’re just putting it on the plate and then throwing it away when the plates come back to the kitchen. Save yourself the food cost, neither one of those are cheap. It’s especially unnecessary when the chives are brown and limp. My veal was very tender but lacked seasoning. Same with the scallops. Tasted very fresh, cooked nicely, but no salt or pepper. My wife liked her broiled seafood combo, but also not seasoned. We all split a triple strawberry crepes and a cannoli. Crepes were very good. I’d recommend going with 3 little cannolis instead of the one big one, can probably charge an extra $1. Single cannoli on the plate seemed a little lost and underwhelming for $6. I like the restaurant, everyone was very nice, will probably come...
Read moreWe wanted to go for my sister in law's birthday. My wife called around four on Saturday for reservations. They kept her on hold for over 20 minutes. When they finally came back on the earliest they had was eight pm. We arrived promptly at eight and I went to the desk where the hostess said we are running behind so it's going to be ten more minutes. Well by 825 I watched four other walk ins of two to four get seated so I went back up and waited five more minutes at the desk for the hostess. She said we are trying to get the other party of six to leave so you can get your table. At 845 she sat another walk in party of five so I went back up and asked what is going on? She said let me see what I can do. She called us a few more minutes later and put us on the room where they do the comedy shows at nine pm. The worst part of this was that the room holds about fifty people and there were only two other groups in there. Why didn't they just seat us in there at 8pm? Our waiter Dominic came over and took our drink and salad orders and that stuff came over quickly. The problem there was that nobody had any silverware or napkins and not all the drinks came. Our other waitress Ray Lynn came over and apologized for our long wait and asked if we needed anything, my wife said some utensils and napkins and the rest of the drinks would be nice. Next came the appetizers, I always go for the stuffed mushrooms when I go there but this time I was highly disappointed. Five tiny shrooms in a ring on a small plate. Not quite what I had the last few times I was there. Next came dinner which was also a disaster. My nephew usually gets ribs when we go out and when I saw his plate was still mostly full I asked him and he said Applebee's had much better ones. My neice sent her dinner back and went straight to dessert. My wife hardly touched her veal Oscar but thankfully my Prime rib was delicious. I would like to compliment our wait staff for making every effort to save the night for us but Danielle the hostess needs to find a different job. I've eaten there dozens of times but after this treatment I'm never going back. Oh by the way I also tried to call on Saturday while my wife was on hold and left my name and number. My call back came on Sunday around 2pm. Don't waste your time or money, there's plenty of other places that value their customers more than Georgine's does. A respected name only...
Read moreI was very disappointed in the service here. After spending hundreds and I mean hundreds of dollars over that past few years, this place angered my entire family. They raved about this place, every year my family visited this place for birthdays, anniversaries and small family gatherings. This was my first and last visit. I felt if we were not black, we would have received a different response to a complaint that we have a right to express. We had at least 12 different meals and they wanted us to share 4 veggies. So when we questioned this we were told that for every two meals there was only one veggie. Well like I said my family was just there two weeks ago and had four people with four veggies. The waitress slammed down the plate and the night only got worse. The manager, in the beginning appeared to want to rectify the situation until we waited over a 45 minutes and four requests later for the check. When another server brought out the check my aunt was frustrated and said we had been waiting over an hour. She then wanted to become combative in response saying that we never had you waiting for anything. The response was disrespectful and she was even our waitress. Which means they were having several conversations in the back. By now another family member pulled her to the side to explain how she was a manager and that the way that was handled was very unprofessional. She continued to be combative stating, I'm not letting her say we took over an hour to bring a check. My thoughts were I believe that she, as a waitress and not the manager felt privilege enough to disrespect customers the way she did was acceptable because we were black. My concern is that we refuse to pay for disrespect and poor service. The night ended by the manager not wanting to hear about her other staff. Needless to say they won't get another dime...
