We are long time fans of Danny Boys, so when a friend came in from San Diego and requested that we take him back to the Broadview Hts restaurant where we took him when he visited in November 2021, we happily agreed. The three of us were greeted and seated quickly and our food was excellent as always. But that's where our service ended. We were seated in the middle of all of the booths. When our guest finished his beer, we tried in vein to get the waitresses attention. All of her attention was with a gentleman in a corner booth. Every time she walk around our table she was looking at the floor. After we all finished eating and still could not get her attention, we continued to wait, figuring she'd bring us our check eventually. But she did not. I finally got up and took my walker across the restaurant to the 3 ladies huddled behind the cash register talking. One identified herself as the manager, so I explained the situation. She immediately spoke with our waitress who finally appeared and offered our guest another beer, which he declined because by that time we had been waiting an hour for her to return to our table. She then quickly gave us our check which we paid, and then left the restaurant. IF we ever return to Danny Boys, it will be at the Rocky River location. I certainly won't take family or friends, it was too embarrassing to explain and apologize to our house guest for the lack of service. It is a shame in this economy that their server did not want to make the...
Read moreStopped into Danny Boys for a late lunch on Saturday afternoon. Three of us ordered the different burgers - the last call burger, the hoboken burger and the pineapple willie burger. My wife and I cut each of ours in half and shared. We both thought both burgers were very good, though my wife said my Hoboken burger was better than her Pineapple Willie burger. This is not normally her type of burger either. My son ate his entire last call burger so I assume it was also very good. The cajun fries were excellent, with just the right amount of seasoning. The rib rub tater tots weren't as good but my son seemed to enjoy them just fine. Service was very good, not pushy and not slow. Pricing was fair at $40 for the three meals and drinks. Enjoyed it enough to leave a generous tip. The decor is nice, music and gangsters. Soft 70s lite rock or top 40 music plays in the background while you eat I have been here one other time. Lots of very different pizzas on the menu. They seem to get great reviews on many of them. I didn't enjoy the chicago pizza as much as i had hoped on that previous visit, but it wasn't terrible. Service was excellent then as well and the place was very clean as seems the norm. Tables are spaced apart a good distance, which is refreshing and comforting in these times. My recommendation is definately give this...
Read moreJust had a late lunch at Danny Boys today, after having left the city almost 13 years ago. We had a party of four people and all tried different items. It was great to see that it is impeccably clean, great service and still really good food. It was drafty in the dining room, due to the season and ceiling fans running- thus the atmosphere rating would be at 4 stars, but you can't help 20 degree weather and the constant traffic in and out of the double bay doors. I had the pizza that I rate in the top three in the area- especially over the major chain places (Yes, I am a pizza snob). Judging by Doordash drivers picking up orders; I'd say they are doing a great to-go business, beyond in-house service. The pizza style entrees favor a bit on the sweet side, as far as sauce- but that makes it very "anyone" friendly and can easily be zipped up with the FRESH crushed red pepper flakes that they offer. The tables are spaced out to allow plenty of elbow room and also partitioned off if you want the bar atmosphere or intimate seating areas. Onion Rings, Pizza, Woogies and Fish Sticks...
