My travels have brought me to Nebraska, where I saw 5 cars all day while driving 450 miles until I got to this little town of Broken Arrow. It was a booming city compared to where I've been all this week! I was hungry after a terrible lunch, and this place was recommended.
The salsa was unexpectedly good. Normally, salsa is ok, but what I've learned here in the Midwest plains is that there's no flavor to their salsa. This salsa had bite! It was delicious, and so were the tortilla chips that I shouldn't be eating because of a diet I'm on.
The fajitias was ok. I asked for no onion, there was a couple onion in it. The portion size was great! Food was good, and it was hot. A little light on the seasoning, which was disappointing.
The service on the other hand, was a different matter. I finished my water within the first 3 minutes of getting my food. I wasn't offered water again for 45 minutes because the young server never came back. I have a choking issue when it comes to food, it gets stuck in my throat due to a medical condition, so I need a lot of liquid for when it gets stuck. This would have been very bad for me. The water cup was very visible at the end of the table, obvious it was empty.
I finished my food, and no check. So I waited another 20-30 minutes. No check. The server finally comes back, and asks if I want anything else, and I said just the check. He said ok pay up there. I asked for the check again. He pointed to the back and said pay up there.
I went to the register, and he (the server) added it up. I asked why I didn't get a check at the table because I've been waiting 20 minutes. His response: Food good? That's not what I asked. I asked again, his response, "Oh, something else?" This dude doesn't understand english outside of Taco, burrito, fajitias. If you're doing a service job, you need to be fluent in the language of which the locals. He then went and got someone else.
I asked the second guy the same question. Same thing, he didn't understand what i was asking, he said pay here. I said no. So they went back to the kitchen and brought back a THIRD person. I don't think he understood either, despite asking the question 3 times, and then he just said sorry.
Whatever. This mexican restaurant is being run by people that isn't fluent in the language of the locals. It's Nebraska, the local language everywhere has been english, not spanish. This was the first mexican restaurant I seen in the last 400 miles between Lincoln, Sioux City, Omaha, Columbus, Thedford before ending up here in Broken Bow.
Ugh. So, he rings me up, and asks if I want a receipt. I say ya. I put my debit card away as he's typing away at the calculator. I stand a minute, and I see the total showing on the calculator was $79. This dude didn't give me a receipt and wasn't going to give me a receipt either!
DUDE! Get this kid into classes where he can learn to speak English fluently. This was ridiculous. The food may be good, but good service is important too. And this place failed miserably on the service due to lack of understanding of the English language. It's the type of language barrier I'd expect from a border state, not a state that's between Kansas and South Dakota. I...
Read moreThe food was excellent. Deducted 3 stars due to unfriendly staff and terrible customer service, which are important to a good experience. The first employee we saw upon entering and waiting to be seated said nothing and avoided eye contact. The second person we encountered didn’t greet us, just asked how many and led us to our table. The waiter, Daniel, came quickly to take our drink order and asked if we were ready to order our food. Since we were traveling and unfamiliar with the restaurant, we weren’t ready to order yet. Daniel brought our drinks and some chips and salsa, and asked if we were ready to order. We weren’t. He came back a few minutes later and we still weren’t ready to order. He was visibly perturbed. We quickly decided what to order and the wait for his return began. When he finally returned, he was rude and short with us. Our food was served by someone else. The next time we saw him was when we flagged someone else down to ask for extra napkins, which Daniel brought. He asked if we were okay. I asked for a bit of refill for my drink. He complied, but left the dirty dishes that we were done with. We waited for awhile for our check, which never came. Husband finally just went to the register. It was the second time in our 30 year marriage that we’ve left a terrible tip. It was that bad. The food was good though. Husband had the carne asado tacos, which were excellent. I had the dinner special. I ate the taco first and it was already getting soft. The tostada was next and it was also soft. I pushed the guacamole to the edge and ate just that. The chili rellenos was great, but very spicy. Only ate a couple bites. The tamale was huge, but way more masa than meat. The beef enchilada was great. My husband didn’t eat the beans and I didn’t eat the beans or rice. We were told there were no charo beans. Just wish the service was as good...
Read moreI went to Fiesta Brava. The food was fine nothing wrong with it. But I ordered two Sprites my friend and I both found little black things floating around in our drinks. Everyone that we have showed the photos to said that they looked like bugs. Not saying they were. We asked the lady if she could look and get us new drinks. She told us no because it was from the ice. Then she walked away. When she came back again we told her again that there was something in both of our drinks. She told us that it was from the ice and we told her that we were not going to pay for the drinks until they were clean. Point is there black stuff floating in our drinks and we were refused service. We also found some black stuff in the salt shaker. She refuse to get us new drinks about four times. After a while she told us that it was free but we walked out.my dad talked to the manager and he said he would...
