Very expensive coffee, is it really worth it? Probably not and here is why. I have been here a few times and today I ordered a medium Americano. Price, $4.99 and it comes with 2 shots, I asked for 2 extra shots and that was an extra $2.50. So now we're at $7.50. I asked the host to leave me 2" of room for cream, I even showed her where to mark the cup for the barista. I struggle with anyone under 30 as they are CLUELESS to any type of measurement system, English or Metric. Most young people cannot tell you how big an inch even is.... But I digress, so after waiting for 12 minutes to get the drink, I opened the lid to find the beverage with no room for cream, my 2" request was more like .5 inches. So here is my point to why this is so expensive, I then pour out the needed room for my cream, a waist of my shots/flavor. I might also add that they pull the shot and then add water on top, that burns the shot with the hot water and changes the taste. If you're a good barista, you pull your shots, and place them on top of your hot water so you don't scald the pull. Now back to the measuring problem we face in this country, if you're unsure what 2" looks like and you're the typical "I don't care about this job person" you would dump in the 4 shots and then pour in the water. WRONG. This totally messed up my $7.50 drink. I also asked the host about why my coffee was $7.50, as I was surprised that it was that expensive. She stated, "well we don't set the prices".... Nice... In hindsight I should have ordered 4 shots of espresso for $7 bucks and saved .50... I hope everyone sees the humor here. She had no concern or understanding of why I was questioning the cost and/or why I was irritated about the lack of room for my cream. If you have traveled the country drinking coffee and you look forward to a great cup, you get my point. O and be prepared to pay up for any food. I spent $5.99 on a plain bagel, toasted with cream cheese on the side. It was decent and no complaints.
Overall: The location in Brookfield is good, parking can be a bit of a challenge on a busy day but the atmosphere is great, it's pretty clean, it has good seating and decent Wi-Fi although they do throttle it down. (Another personal annoyance, throttled Wi-Fi.)
Conclusion: With the prices that are being charged for high end coffee, I think they need to consider buying a ruler and training their Gen Z's to pay attention and up the customer service game. I will come again, but next time I am bringing the Stanley and we're gonna have a lesson on what the imperial system of measurement is and how to leave 2" of room. ;)
Happy travels, The...
Read moreThe coffee shop is very cute with the whole Train station theme. I liked the led scenes but wonder if they'd get old after a while. It is expensive and does not offer senior or military discounts and no punch cards for frequent customers. We live nearby the coffee shop. I went in to get a caramel latte today with no foam. I paid $6.71. I was given my latte and was wished a nice day. I returned the well wish. Upon receiving the coffee I opened the lid and found quite a large amount of foam. I asked the Barista very politely if they had told her it was a no foam. She said that they had but she didn't have a spoon so she couldn't scoop the foam off. I told her I would just wait until the foam went down so she could add some more milk. While standing there waiting for that to occur it occurred to me that I could use the lid and scooped the foam off myself. I returned the coffee to her and asked her to add some more milk. She did so and I said thank you to which she responded 'yep' without looking at me. First of all a coffee shop like that should be well equipped to provide no foam lattes. I was very nice and friendly and polite in the way I asked for this to be rectified and from the time I called the foam to her attention until I walked out she was cold and rude. I was clearly an inconvenience. The latte was delicious but her attitude was really uncalled for (Barista with coffin on left arm) and ruined the experience. Maybe I'll try again in the future when they've had a chance to purchase a spoon and work on their customer service. As a side note: a no foam latte is a pouring technique using a spoon and should require no scooping of foam...
Read moreI was very impressed by this little shop! I've been a barista for 3 years and I love finding new shops to visit. I was kind of nervous when I saw the same online. The name gave "Margaritaville" vibes for some reason, so I'm not really sure what my expectations were. Maybe some tacky atmosphere? I WAS WONDERFULLY WRONG. Walking up to the shop, it's has a very scenic hillside veiw of nearby trails, even with the leaves off the trees. Y'all. IT'S TRAIN THEMED. The walls have really pretty map patterns on them. Decorative but not overwhelming. The ordering counter is labeled as "arrivals," and pickup is "departures." There's a ton of merch, greeting cards, mugs, teas, and even custom beans. I asked the barista about their beans, and they are roasted off-site but still their own special beans. Half the shop has these digital windows, where the windows are screens and have cute scenes playing on them!
ANYWAYS. I got an iced latte with hazelnut and white mocha sauce (I think they use 1883 syrups, which is an added bonus). My latte was too sweet for me to taste the espresso, but I wasn't getting any weird coffee aftertaste, so I'd like to visit again and see if my drink was a fluke. They had lots of pretty pastries as well, but I wasn't able to try any at the time.
TLDR: Highly recommend if you're looking for a shop that isn't crammed on a busy street or downtown shopping...
