News Announcement
As the creator of Darkness to Light, I am thrilled to share that I have returned to my roots to film in my hometown.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Heath Luper and his incredible staff at The Fish Fry for generously allowing us to film at their restaurant. The warmth and kindness I experienced there truly touched me. In appreciation, I treated the team to dinner the following Saturday. When I asked for my bill, I was met with a beautiful surprise—the waitress informed me it had already been paid. When I inquired further, she simply said, "I can’t take your money."
Moments later, the owner, Heath, approached with a smile and a lighthearted joke, asking if the food wasn’t to my liking. I struggled to contain my emotions. My intention was to support his business, yet I was met with such uncommon grace and generosity.
If you’re seeking genuine kindness and southern hospitality, whether for dine-in, carry-out, or if you're just passing through Brookhaven, I wholeheartedly recommend The Fish Fry.

When I the other girl that was just standing admiring the other, she said I'm coming. They seemed to have an attitude. I came back in after my clients ordered and there were several orders just sitting there. When the lady that was sitting literally town feet away asked was it hers, that's when they decided to give it to her. This really shook me. So now I'm looking every five min because I don't want their food getting cold just sitting there. So when I asked the girl was the fish whole she no we don't sell whole, so I thought she meant with the head still on. So I said not whole, the filet. I said owe not strips. Not once did she say yes it is strips. So when I went to ask her very calm and with my speech very low, she looked at me with rolling eyes to give me an answer that was a lie. I walked to avoid a scene because I knew without a shadow of a doubt They wouldn't be back and they agreed. For 14$ she got 2 strips of fish( one filet maybe), 3 🍤, the small side of fries, Cole slaw, and two very small hush puppies that were...

I am certain that I placed this order at the counter and picked it up on a Thursday afternoon. I am also certain that anywhere else that you order a dressed oyster poboy, you will not be served half a dozen oysters swimming in ketchup on a sub roll, with stale frozen crinkle cut fries for 22 dollars.
I really wanted to like it because I always choose locally owned restaurants over chains. But I was very disappointed in the food.
I stopped in at 3PM to make a take out order. Ordered an oyster poboy, dressed, and order of fries, which aren't included with the poboy. My check was right at $22.
The poboy was soaked in ketchup and had a lettuce leaf and pickle on it. It was inedible--there was so much ketchup. The fries were crinkle cut and hard with white edges as if they were freezer burned. Also inedible. Was this just a bad day?
I have eaten oyster poboys at dozens of restaurants across the southeast and have never had a dressed oyster poboy with ketchup on it. Always mayo,...
