This is a dawg-on good review. If you are a dog parent this is the perfect place. While all the dogs were not the best behaved they were exactly zero dog issues. All the dogs were leashed and owners picked up after their four legged family members. We had Charley’s Fly By pizza and fries and the taster flight of beer. News flash they also have a doggie menu. More on Choco’s selection later. The pizza was Smokey and very tasty. The goat cheese was very generous and blended well with the mushrooms and black olives. The finish was a balsamic glaze that was exceptional. A memorable taste that was unique and something I would come back to have again. The fries were fresh, crisp and plentiful. Probably the best fries in Maine. Think Pomme Frits in Belgium, just no Mayo. The beer was a unique experience the descriptors was horrible! I ended up picking by name. So let me try to help you. Remove before flight was a red that was light, fresh and with a woody, leathery complexion that finished with a slight hoppy twang. A guy at the table next to me described it as fruity but he described them all as fruity. So you decide. The second was Space A reminiscent of breakfast and having grapefruit. It was slightly bitter, think rind of the fruit it ended with a pleasant mild almost effervescent finish. Definitely a beer for a hot day. The third beer was Puddle Jumper. I asked three other patrons, here is what they said, it tastes great, it reminded me of plums, and I think it reminded me of roses cut on rainy day after the grass was cut. Wow. I didn’t get all that. 😜😜it was crisp and light. It smelled like it would be sweet but it wasn’t. Think prickly pear meets strawberries. It had the expected IPA finish with a little something extra. Finally Breaking the Sour was claimed to be a mango guava mash. Two people called it a girly beer, not sure what that means but I thought it was very sour with a robust nose of rip mangoes. I think it is probably the most nuanced of the beers and probably the most likely for people to clearly either love it or hate it with very few in between. It’s finish was rude and abrupt ending with a pucker. The dog treat was a frozen banana that Choco loved and gave two paws up. This place makes friends out of the patrons. People talked, shared tables and gladly shared their perceptions of the food and beer. There was also live music. But It was kinda depressing. The song choices were not a Friday night fun night kinda selection. But the guy was a good singer and as a solo act he did great. You order on your phone and yes you can use Apple Pay. All in all an...

They brew good beer with a rotating selection. They play good alternative current music not too loud so you can easily converse. Some thought was put into acoustics to prevent echoes when it was renovated.

It is nice in the winter with good natural afternoon lighting. The Bailey Island Lobster Pond food truck parked outside has some of the better tasting food truck food. A great rueben and fish and chips.

Good reuse of an existing structure. It was an indoor handgun and shotgun shooting range for sailors to be qualified. In typical wasteful Pentagon fashion, even though the base has been there since WW II, and was selected for closure in the final round of base closings, the range was built in the last year the base was operational even though it was in the process of closing for about 4 years. If someone says the military needs more money, they are wrong! All the windows were created by cutting out the foot thick concrete slabs.

Don't trust access to the Tesla electric car chargers. They don't plow them out in winter and even plow snow up in front of them and for some idiotic reason did not locate them next to the parking lot. You have to drive across some crushed muddy stone which is why the snow plow guy does not...

The flight deck, which was originally the Marine shooting gallery for the former base there is a super cute space. It has a lot of indoor/outdoor options, including space heaters for all of the outside areas. They even have mini covered picnic tables with heating, etc.

You order food at a kiosk and beer from an attendant in the main bar area. The portion sizes for the pizza are filling. The salads are also tasty. They have a great beer selection with their stuff on tap and a few can options like the amazing sour I drank today.

Dogs are welcome on leash in ALL areas, as long as they’re well-behaved.

A great use / name for part of the former base! My father-in-law was stationed here and met his wife of nearly 55 years at the base ❤️ , which warmed my heart to see their “buy a Vet a beer” option that allows you to buy a beer now for a Vet later!!

Worth a stop in if you are passing...
