I went here to try the wings and was hoping they had Salt and Vinegar. Sadly they do not. Onto the review, I was greeted by the friendliest young man upon entering. I explained I was new and it would be a few minutes. The phone rang and he was torn between answering the phone and being available for me. He asked for help from the back. Mike came up to help. He answered my questions. I asked if I could have the heat turned on due to my wanting to stay and to enjoy my food in a warm sitting area. He said that would be no problem. Frigid cold air was blowing in the small dining area and another patron spoke up and said it was extremely cold. Appearantly, due to the kitchen being hot the AC needs to be on. I completely understand that. Employees need to be taken care of. So my thought is, why not have two separate units. One for dine in and one for kitchen. Needless to say I put my order in and Mike read it back to me. I sat in the dining area and waited for Mike to turn the heat on. He did come out and said, " it is freezing out here." Proceeded to turn the heat on. Waited for my Greek salad and 10 Garlic Butter wings. The salad was incredibly large! The tomatoes were not fresh and the salad mix was brown. Once I pulled out all that- the salad was ok. When the wings arrived, I was amazed at the size! Big wings and flats. Nicely cooked. But where was my Garlic? Bit into a wing and tasted nothing but garlic salt.. REALLY?? Garlic Salt? I have never had wings come with garlic salt when advertised as Garlic Butter wings. The second disappointment was - the Butter was congealed in the bottom of the aluminum pan but the wings were hot. Staff- extremely friendly and great people. Each staff member came out to ask if everything was ok or fine. I did tell the young lady that garlic salt is not a garlic butter wing. She offered to see if they had fresh garlic but by that point- I was freezing and didn't want to bother anyone. They were very busy with take out. Recommendation: this would be a place for take out or delivery. Freezing - cold air blowing on me constantly- staff put it back to air conditioning. Big wings nicely cooked- no flavor other than a mouthful of garlic salt- ruined the wing- no butter other than congealed in the bottom of the pan. Blue Cheese dressing came in a Ken's packet. Genuine Friendly staff and they did offer to try again. They did offer lids not only for my wings and salad but for the dressing as well. Greek salad was only chopped. No Kalamato or green olives- a sprinkling of black olives. I did ask for extra feta cheese and they did oblige. I asked for dressing on the side and they did provide dressing on the side. I'll try subs next time or maybe a pizza to go and eat it in my car where I can be warm and enjoy warm food. This is definitely a take out place not a dine in.. disappointed but willing to try again due to the great staff.. ps- it is Super Bowl weekend- could be another reason why...
Read moreWe were Kayaking in the area and decided to grab some food on our way back to our hotel. We were not disappointed at all going with The Shack. We ordered online and took it to go for a family of 5 (we eat big :P). After arriving for pickup, we realized that this was basically a grab and go restaurant, b/c we were wondering why it had request for reservations lol. There is very little inside dining area (one table), but they do have some outside seating as well. It wasn't busy. We order a special with Maryland Style thin crust and garlic bread, traditional wings (mild), & pepperoni rolls. We thoroughly enjoyed EVERYTHING! Really nice staff, provided to go plates/utensils/napkins, and was not selfish on the sauces and seasonings.
+Food (Everything in the review was well worth trying), Service, PRICE (~$65 before tip fed family of 5)
-Atmosphere only took a hit b/c of cable management that was used for the displays (tv's). None of them worked and think if they invested some time into cable & hardware management, it would help with the interior view. NOT A HUGE DEAL since the food & service was great but would be a nice bow tie on...
Read moreWhen this place first opened up they gave me my first job. I moved away and haven't been back for years, but this weekend we had a family event and placed a large order. There were a few issues that we didn't realize until we arrived home with our order. We called the restaurant back and Katie responded quickly and so kindly. After discussing with the owner they found a way to remake our order, added in a little something special and refunded part of the order... AND they delivered to us to save us from a second trip. The food was perfection... but honestly, this type of customer service is what made me feel compelled to leave an excellent review. I wish I lived closer because it would be a regular for our family. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH! Best wishes for many years of a thriving family business, you gave...
