Orr's Drive In — Restaurant in Byesville

Update: As I was checking out of the Holiday Inn Express and told the desk clerk I appreciated the recommendation (below) the evening before, I learned that the best thing about Orr's is a milkshake they have with all manner of flavors mixed together - tropical (and non-tropical) fruits and such. It's supposed to be heavenly. If'd known that I'd have had one. It's not a smoothie made with ice - you can get one like that at many places around the country and while nice they aren't all that much to write home about. Not so with this, as it is a true milkshake with all the creamy goodness that comes with.

I'm just sorry I missed out. I'm already checked in at the next stop.

I enjoyed my visit. Had an Orr Burger - delicious. The mix of not-just-one sauce (one was mayo - wisely put by the tomato) worked well. This is a driving vacation (I'm checking out and will enjoy a drive down the OH river valley, so I won't get a 2nd visit to Orr's). I want a shout-out to the front desk person at the Holiday Inn Express who confirmed Orr's is a local favorite and that she goes there for ice cream. I was hungry, having just checked in and unpacked so I just had the burger and onion rings, too full to do the ice cream.

It was definitely worth it, and a nice change from the chains. Back in the DC burbs, where there are some nice local BBQ places, what we don't have anywhere near me (I can't find one on Google Maps) is a great local burger place - and we don't have ANY local soft-serve ice cream places. I miss them - grew up enjoying them in upstate NY and it's nice to know Orr's is there if I"m driving down I-70 in the summer some time in the future.

So this is a good, local "slow down and take a look around" place as Guy F says. Triple-D like place you could say (I love the show).

I was hoping to get a quick bite to eat after my daughters ball game, as i was waiting i saw the girl cooking my food with no gloves on, watched her pick my onion rings up and my hotdog with her bare hands, ate a few of them wiped her hands on her shorts/ legs before picking up the rest of my onion rings with her bare hands not washing them in between. So the price of the ice cream is perfect. The flavor of the ice cream amazing. The problem comes down to the staff. They are all high school kids. They never want to be working. Turn over is so high in that place no one knows what they are doing. They are completely unorganized every single time. I had a man just walk off with my order who wouldn't give it back. The worker watched it happened than told me if I wanted it I would have to purchase it all again. (He never once interjected asking him not to steal it).
