Mereketengue Tacos & Margarita — Restaurant in Cabo Rojo

Been on the search for a goto taco place and it’s been difficult to find. This place is close to my place when I’m in the west side of the island. I liked the place decor and the service the waiter girl was nice and on point.

The food was ok but could be improved, i ordered 1 taco de asada, 1 taco de chochinita and a quesadilla. These are not your average taco they are gourmet tacos, I did like them the only thing the meat was not cook at the moment which makes it gourmet, it was probably precook meat laying under a heat lamp. So that made these taco ok as opposed to great. Fresh grilled meat would make these taco great. The quesadilla was good, the cheese was good but for me $10 for a quesadilla is too much money for a slice of cheese and a 1 slice of flour tortilla. These lemonade was very good and nicely decorated it was like it was a fancy alcoholic drink!

Love the food here but service has gone on a steady decline since they opened. Just sat here for 50 minutes and our waiter ignored us over other tables with more people. She apparently forgot to place our order. Finally I ask the assistance of another waiter after seeing three tables seated after me finish their meals. She tells us we’d have to wait another 30 minutes because at this point they had more tables ahead of ours. Not even an apology or explanation just a do you want to wait or I can charge you for your drinks. Honestly, I expected more. Service was terrible to non existent. Two other tables from the patio walked out with same issues. Simple solution would have been honesty and setting expectations with a little customer service. Lost me and my friends...
