I recently dined at MI Mexico Family Mexican Restaurant, an establishment that touts itself as an authentic Mexican eatery. Sadly, my experience did not align with this claim and thus I find myself compelled to provide a candid review of my experience.
Our meal commenced with the signature fajitas and an order of queso. Expecting a culinary delight that could transport me to the heart of Mexico, I was dismayed to receive a dish that was lukewarm at best. The queso had an unfortunate canned taste and was equally disappointing in terms of temperature.
Our attempt to explore the menu further led us to the bean and cheese pupusa. Much like the earlier courses, it was served cold, diminishing the overall flavors and the authentic experience that we had anticipated. The disappointment was accentuated by the singular scoop of guacamole dwarfed by an excessive bed of lettuce, an imbalance that seemed to neglect the rich, vibrant traditions of Mexican cuisine.
Compounding these issues was the restaurant's pricing structure. The cost of $3.50 for just two corn tortillas felt exorbitant, leading to an additional expenditure of roughly $14 on tortillas alone. The overall bill came up to approximately $73, a steep price for two diners, especially considering the underwhelming quality and temperature of the food served.
The service, too, left much to be desired. Despite there being only four tables occupied during our visit, our dishes arrived at staggered intervals of 15 minutes. A pleasant dining experience is not merely about the food, but also about the ambiance and cleanliness. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a dirty table, further detracting from our enjoyment of the meal.
The food seemed to lack the homemade touch that one would expect from an establishment billing itself as a family restaurant. Instead, the taste and texture gave off an impression of being microwaved, a far cry from the freshly prepared dishes we had envisioned.
Finally, I would like to address the multitude of glowing Google reviews for the restaurant. While it is not my place to question the authenticity of these reviews, I did notice that a substantial number of them were from accounts with only one review, casting a shadow of doubt over their validity.
I understand that every restaurant has off days and it is possible we visited on one. However, based on this visit, I cannot recommend MI Mexico Family Mexican Restaurant. I believe that a commitment to quality, temperature, and service is paramount in the food industry, and I sincerely hope the establishment takes this feedback into...
Read moreFound this little place, their tacos are okay a bit pricy for the size they are on the smaller side. Mini tacos. In my opinion their chorizo and pastor were the best. Rice was a bit burned. Great customer service and fast. Their burritos are also decent not hand made flour tortillas. They have aguas frescas which was good and on top of that their bread was pretty good as well. It was a little lonely, and a bit bummed out, because I think there use to be have more verity to the menu that was the reason we came but they no longer have the old Mexican food plates based off the previous reviews. They have a salsa bar and the condiments some of them were already old you can tell especially the lemons, relish, cucumbers, and onions. Definitely need some improvement! For 7 tacos an agua and the rice it was about $24. For 5 pieces of bread two burritos it was...
Read moreDecided to go here for Father’s Day and try it out. Not very busy but it seemed like they were struggling to keep up. Sat in the back and it smelled like fish. Not really what I want to smell while eating as the table we sat next to was full of dirty dishes. Chips and salsa came out, and chips were good. Salsa was basically watered down tomato paste. Asked for queso and guacamole and about 15-20 minutes later we finally got it. Still no order taken. Queso was straight of a can. Guacamole was a scoop sitting on half a bowl of lettuce for $7.99. It was good, but definitely not worth the price. After seeing what quality food we were getting and lack of service, we decided to cut our losses and just not order and pay for what we got. 3 drinks, guacamole and cheese sauce came out $22. Never again. We ended up going down to McDonalds to eat so we...
