I travel out to drive kids to a camp in the area 2 or 3 times a year and once in a while I find myself wanting and having the time to stop somewhere for a meal. Last year on a trip out here I left home about an hour early in case the traffic around Philly was a problem. Fortunately for me it was not so I had time to stop for a meal somewhere. Since I knew that would be a possibility I looked at the reviews of a few places and although at the time there were a few unfavorable ones I decided to at least check out the Windmill, that was until I saw that the parking lot was full.I decided instead on another local eatery that although the food and service were fine they did not have suitable parking for the bus I was driving. This year the group needed 2 buses and so we really needed some place that could fit us both. We decided to check out the Windmill or go somewhere else out of the area. Upon arrival there was plenty of room to park so we went in, were seated promptly and both had a good meal with good service. My only complaint is that the price was a bit more than diners local to South Jersey but it is what it is. I might come back again if in the area but I might instead look for somewhere else to fall in love with.

The broccoli soup was amazing and so were the broiled sea scallops. The vegetables, mashed potatoes and rolls were all lukewarm. Our waitress Amanda was very attentive. We will go back. We were there yesterday 3/17/21 for St. Patrick's day, my husband wanted cornbeef and cabbage for the holiday without going to a crowded pub. He said it was so tender! I had the Chicken Parm and was very surprised and delighted that the chicken was not breaded! I was so enjoyable that way, that I think I will start making mine the same way! Our server was Doris, she was very attentive. I went yesterday, because if we go to Lowes we always stop by the Windmill. One of our waitress Amanda was on her dinner break, so we said we would take which ever one was available, Marina waited on us and she was very inept. She was not attentive, she was slow and cleared nothing from the table, so when I asked for a box for dinner I mentioned that most people prefer to have their dinner not surrounded by dirty dishes. She feigned not understanding. Needless to say we will not ever have her wait on us again

YAAAAAS!! If you're looking for some home-cooked comfort on the road, this is where it's at!! Amber was our outstanding waitress. She was warm and friendly and beloved by her "regulars". The food here is the coziest of country down-home comfort foods as you can get! From the french toast, sandwiches, pulled pork fries, the soup, and homemade pies, every bite was better than the next. The soup was literally good to the last drop. The iced tea was feshly made. The steak sandwich surpasses that of our favorite high-end steak house! We didn't have room for the ice cream, so we will venture back again to try the ice cream window and home baked treats. A clean and eclectic vibe, this environment sets the mood to practically run to their gift shop. It is an added bonus that makes this whole experience as warm and fuzzy for your heart as it is for your belly. Come hungry, you will leave full!!

Really cute place to eat. Open feel, dark wood with the bright white walls for contrast makes it feel open and inviting! Windmill Family Restaurant was not super busy, but it was about 9:30-10am on a Monday morning. So, it was easy to hear my friend talking.

The staff was really friendly and tentative. We had Miss Doris as our server, She is excellent! Miss Doris has a wonderful, beautiful, and friendly smile every time she comes to your table! Food came out fast. We both got the one special the Windmill omlette. Which consists of a 3 egg omelet with hashbrowns and american cheese, then comes with toast w/butter (I got Wheat). Friend got White toast... ( You can pick Rye). Eggs were a little overcooked, but that could just be the heat lamp, not the Chef or Cook!!!! SO just keep that in mind if ordering eggs, sometimes!

Now, I did give the food a 4-stars and here are my reasons. I just wish going to a family like a restaurant like this or diner-style just had flavor... I mean, I have gone to so many diners. BUT it all tastes the EXACT same... LIFELESS AND BORING... I guess that is why I go, but I kind of want to be wowed... (I have once)

Like the Chefs/Cooks have a passion, and it is just wasted by repeat BORING insanity! And I am not asking the chefs and cooks to get a major EGO either or the OWNERS OR MANAGERS!! LISTEN TO EVERYONE.. Firstly, the REVIEWS GOOD AND BAD, The Patrons, the staff, The kitchen staff even down to the bus and dishwasher employees! Heck, they may have the best-selling menu idea!!! CHANGE IS GOOD, with keeping tradition!

I am not saying reinvent the wheel... And I am not saying ignore your wonderful trucker and elderly patrons either and go hog ham wild... Or that you need a 5-michelin star. (I mean, if you did, that would be amazing sauce! Lol)

But, please get rid of American cheese.. 😆 just oil and by product... GROSS! Put REAL CHEDDAR IN THE WINDMILL OMELET HECK YOU ALL ARE SURROUNDED BY AMISH AND NON-AMISH DAIRY FARMERS! USE REAL CHEESE!!! NOT FAKE!!!! PLEASE USE SPICES AND WHEN I MEAN SPICES I MEAN GARLIC, BLACK PEPPER, OR WHITE PEPPER, ONION POWDER AND PARSLEY IN YOUR OMLETES Don't need "Gerty" falling over in her chair when you say spices lol!

But it's food! Food is amazing and life! It's passion, it's fun, about sharing and family! Then, watch the Windmill Family Restaurant grow and become a landmark once again!

Sorry if this review is long... And sorry, it sounds persnickity... But I see/feel the love and care in that building and the people! I just would love to see it in food! Sorry, I love food! (You know 4'10-"Hobbit") Always up for a second dinner or breakfast...đŸ˜‚đŸ€ŁđŸ˜‚)

P.S. Cute Gift Shop that is taken over by TY BEANY BABY PLUSHIE/"SQUISHMELLOW" Like plushies ... Didn't know they were a thing... BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING, THEY HAVE THEM!!! ALOT TOO!!! But there is an ADORABLE PUNNY FARM TABLE SAYING AND GIFTS TO BUY...

So the first time I went here—oh my gosh! I was amazed at this host. I came about a month ago with my five grand kids. We sat at the counter, and the young woman, who I believe said her name was Grace, introduced herself. We told her we were ordering ice cream, and she got right to it.

Mind you, it was around 6 p.m. and the place was pretty busy. She took our orders, got our drinks, and went straight to work on the ice cream. We ordered everything from sundaes and soft serve to milkshakes. Meanwhile, she was also seating people, working the register, and making our ice cream all at once.

The phone started ringing, and she stepped out, picked it up, and took a takeout order—all while making a sundae at the same time. My grand kids got impatient after just a couple of minutes, but she immediately handled it by giving them crayons and refilling their drinks. Within about 8 minutes, she had all of our orders out.

On top of that, she was also handling people at the outside ice cream window. I’ve worked in this business before, and let me tell you—it’s stressful and hard work. Yet somehow, she stayed calm, collected, and kept everyone happy. She seemed pretty young too, but let me just say: she is the definition of hardworking.

I came back again with my husband, and unfortunately, our experience wasn’t the same. Our server was clearly intoxicated—she smelled strongly of alcohol and was very slow. The food was still good, but that kind of behavior should never be allowed.

The Windmill can be a hit or a miss, and it really shouldn’t be that way. Sorry for the long review, but it...

Good morning I had to write this review I hope the staff fixes the issue so they don't lose no more customers .We were there yesterday March 3 Sunday for lunch. I picked this place for me and my girlfriend's because the last experience was about 2 years ago I ordered this platter pork sauerkraut and mashed potatoes were the best back then. Anyways me and my cousin ordered the same thing the pork sauerkraut and mashed potatoes the waitress brought our platters out mine look like half of a portion of mashed potato that looked like instant mashed potatoes It was not the same there was hardly any pork on my plate It was all sauerkraut and the sauerkraut tasted like somebody put sugar in The sauerkraut I should have said something to the waitresses as well but I didn't I was just hungry and tired. My cousin said something to the waitress lisa and the waitress said that she would give her a discount well it was only a dollar My cousin was very disappointed The food did not taste right I don't know what happen to the cookđŸ„ș🙏 they have but if you want good business you got to serve the food better portions🙏 And stop putting sugar in the sauerkraut and make real mashed potatoes. I'll pray for you all that things get changed I saw the reviews recently after I got home and this morning looking at them You can tell something is going on save your restaurant better portions and real...
