This is an outstanding Thai restaurant! It ranks very highly among the best we've ever had! We're vegetarian and had no trouble finding suitable dishes.
I had the vegetable green curry and it was wonderful! The flavors were balanced between slight sweetness, spiciness (i ordered spicy--one level below the highest: extra spicy) and curry flavor. I don't like sweet curries, and this was not too sweet, but just a hint. My dish included extra veggies, like Chinese eggplant, squash, bell peppers and carrots. You can get if with other proteins, too, such as chicken, beef or tofu.
My wife had the tofu panang curry, which i tasted. It was a bit creamier than the green curry due to more coconut milk, but it had similar mild sweetness, good spice and balanced curry flavor. These are truly wonderful dishes!
We also ordered basil vegetable rolls, which had fresh lettuce, basil, carrots and other fresh veggies wrapped in a moist rice paper roll. They were served with an excellent peanut sauce. They were so fresh and delightful! We ordered my son an appetizer of soy chicken nuggets, which were a bit tough, but he ate them with a vegetable roll. Their flavor was very good. He loves peanut butter, so that peanut sauce sealed the deal for him.
You must try this place! I highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the better Green Papaya Salads I've had. Not afraid to use the dried shrimp, which is much more authentic and flavorful. At the same time $12 is a lot for a salad with a tablespoon or two of dried shrimp and peanuts and no other protein. Flavor is great but the price was on the higher end for what was essentially half a container of cabbage pieces and half a wad of papaya. With the absence of a lunch menu at this time you're left with the choice of getting a full dinner entree for lunch which is way too much food for most people or this, a low protein salad that is just as expensive as a full dinner entree with beef or chicken. Doesn't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat little hole-in-the-wall corner lunch place. Friendly staff and generous portions. Can't beat the $9 lunch specials that include several extras including a side of yummy Pad Thai. The menus are a train-wreck, though, with lots of illegible sharpie cross-outs and corrections. And, often times, they will simply "be out" of something you are craving...and/or make something you have had prepared a dozen times with a different (or missing) ingredient. It is tiny and crowded - so I prefer it for take-out, or lunch on their outdoor sidewalk, rather than date nights. With a little better organization and consistency this would...
