Hidden gem, this place has been around for 70 years in the Saticoy area. It’s placed on the same street on the opposite side where that red barn like building is. It’s unfortunately pretty hidden; likely not their choice given the age of the business. Lots of options, very kind staff. Generations of families coming and going. My grandpa who is now in his 80’s took my dad here when he was a kid, my dad, who is now in his late 50’s turning 60 this year, took me here to grab a bite to eat. I am 24 as of 2024. I ordered the asada fries $10, small drink $3-4, and a cheeseburger for $4 for a total of $20.10. My dad got a fish sandwich which had prior and really liked and a BBQ pulled pork( I think) sandwich and small fries which he really, really liked. The owner, also had a similar story to us, family coming and eating from the establishment for many, many years. B&J’s also seemed to have been featured in some films and or videos which I thought was really cool. The staff are extremely friendly, please be kind and patient back. They are certainly a hidden gem of Saticoy and of Ventura County itself. The food was very good- I do plan on coming back with a friend of mine who also has family that have come there before. I want to get their fried chicken sandwich. Highly recommend in multiple ways. If this place has been around for over 70 years- that must mean something great. Please come and support this lovely business. I really think they need more...
Read moreIt’s a small shack like building with plenty of parking. It has roughly 6 tables that seat 4 comfortably and are located around the building itself. The cashier was very sweet and attentive. I told her it was my first time there and asked what she would recommend. She told me about items you can’t go wrong with, local favorites and her personal favorites. The items that stood out to me most were the tacos, burgers and corn burritos. I ended up getting the Old Fashion burger combo with fries, side of peppers, side of ranch and a cucumber lime agua fresca. Total was $20.03 which is pretty steep but the food was enough for 2 people other than the drink. The burger was enormous and had homestyle flavors which was good. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, had mounds of bacon, crisp onion rings inside, two pattys, and homemade sauce. Overall really good burger, no complaints other than it was a challenge to bite into but that’s not a bad thing for me at least because I made it work. The fries were crinkle cut, extra crispy, perfectly salted and golden. The agua fresca was phenomenal. It was sweet, slightly tart and slightly sour. It went well with my food and was extremely refreshing. The slices of cucumber and shreds of cilantro was aesthetically pleasing and helped bring out the flavors of the drink. I would definitely come back and try something new on the menu and especially a different...
Read moreWe live close but didn't know about this place and decided to give it a try and glad we did. When I was reading the menu online to my kids the pizza burger wasn't my first choice but then I watched the video and had to try it. The owner was friendly and helpful when we were ordering and I almost changed my order since there are so many options but glad I didn't. One of my daughters ate a whole pizza burger, which was amazing, and I split one with my other daughter since we shared a pastrami burger as well. I'll eventually have to get pastrami sandwich since that was yummy but there are so many options it will take a while to try everything. The fries and onion rings were delicious as well and the chili reminded me of Tommy's burger in LA County. Sorry Tommy's, your franchises out here suck but this place could satisfy a Tommy's burger craving. If that wasn't enough food, I also got some of the mango habanero wings which had super crispy breading and even after being in the sauce and fridge overnight still had some crunch. These could over take my favorite wings at the Victoria Pub since they have so many flavor options. My wife got a veggie burger that was delicious as well and I can't wait to try their Mexian food. So many options here and we'll...
