I finally visited the new location of Caramelo Cafe on Valinda Avenue after going to the original cafe on Amar Road for several years.

Rose took my phone order and had everything ready when I arrived.

This time, I ordered two orders of the new (to me) chicken chila-rrito, which is combination of freshly cooked chicken, green sauce chilaquiles, queso fresco, refried beans, and eggs. I really enjoyed this new item, and I definitely recommend it.

I also picked up some Cafes de Olla, which always pair well with any dish from Caramelo Cafe.

I noticed that this location has a permanent, covered outdoor patio for dining al fresco, which I appreciate even though the coronavirus is less dangerous now for non-immunocompromised people. Because members of my family are at high risk, I may return to eat here for breakfast in the patio.

It was nice to see here several staff members - including Rose & Perla - whom I remember from the original Amar Road location.

As always, the food tasted great and the service was wonderful. The freshness and quality of the food completely justified the price.

I definitely will return here.

NOTE: This location apparently does not offer all the drinks that the original Amar location offers. For example, the Cafe de Carmen only is available at the...

My daughter and I ordered the Chilaquiles she ordered green and I ordered the red. OMG we could barely eat them, they were too spicy. We both had to ask for water. The next table down ordered them as well and heard them telling the server that they were too hot. The lady just giggled and stated they didn't "guesstimate" the amount of chiles. I mean don't they taste the food as they make it to make sure it is ok to consume. They offered to put more sour cream on them, I was like instead of apologizing and asking if they can replace with something else, they're trying to put a band aid on it. Later that day my daughter was throwing up and I had bad stomach pain. They didn't seem to care that it was too spicy and weren't conerned with the consequences their food would cause to people's stomach. This is why i gave them...

I was very excited to have breakfast here because I’ve heard so many good things! However, I ordered the Green Chilaquiles and they were nice and crispy, but the sauce was a bit tart… probably the result of adding too many tomatillos. The dish came with a side of potatoes. At first glance, I thought they sliced them very thin. However, once I tasted them, I could tell they were boxed scalloped potatoes with a touch of tomato sauce. Lastly, I ordered an orange juice, which was a blend of orange bang and fresh orange juice. This restaurant is just okay. 5 stars for the plating and...

Lovely cafe with a quaint atmosphere. The food is a 3/5 star for me, because the taste and presentation wasn’t outstanding. The waffles by far are the best menu item, highly recommend. The cafe de olla is incredibly sweet and tastes only like piloncillo, not a trace of coffee. The server says the cafe de olla is made with chocolate as well. Their fried potatoes are thinly sliced and mixed with peppers. Service was attentive and kind. Overall, 4/5 rating for the cafe, nothing outstanding or unique to the experience.

Food was excellent! I got the "El Tri". The meat was perfectly cooked super savory and juicy. The chilaques does have a small kick to them which I enjoyed. Best part of the meal are the potatoes. They are AMAZING! My husband loved his skillet too. My only complaint was the "Cafe de Olla" we had alot of coffee ground in our cup which caused it to taste very better. Other than that everything was magnificent. Loved the service. Plus, they had a car seat carrier so moms they got us covered ;)
