This was my second visit with a party of 6-7 on a Saturday at around 1pm. It was mostly full but nobody was waiting for a place to sit so I would consider that manageable. The food: The menu is actually really cool and unique. Some of the food was really good and some not. I had a Monte Cristo and it tasted like the oil was burnt. But the wings and French dip- delicious. Others had similar results. Smoked Salmon hash- sounded great but our guest who ordered it had to go up to the counter and ask if it was ready since we all had our food for several minutes already and nothing was said about his. It was sitting out on the counter. Then he had to send it back for quality reasons. So food alone is 3-3 1/2 stars. Normally I don’t harp on the service. Everyone is struggling and I’m just happy the restaurant is open. However, the service on our visit (with a birthday guest mind you) was pitiful. We had to go ask for things on 4 different occasions. The water ran out early and was never refilled. We had to get silverware and ask for the server to even take our food order. He rarely stopped by our table. It took over two hours for a simple lunch. I hope the owner checks on Saturday staffing and adjusts the performance at least. Basic functions were not happening - empty tables remained full of dishes for over 25 min for instance. Hopefully this was an isolated incident and my next visit...

Low-key, casual, and lots of natural light coming in the floor-to-ceiling front/side windows pairs exquisitely with the tantalizing menu sporting a variety of sauces (aioli, dippping, covered). Reggae/beachy music just right decibel level to enjoy, but not have to yell over. -- Tastebud Appetizers ("Plates") Playland pretty much guarantees coming back again or splitting a main dish (burgers, sandwiches, wings, street tacos, and salads). All dishes plated beautifully. -- Special brunch menu on the weekends. -- Being a tavern, they sport cocktails, wine, beer on tap/bottles/cans. -- On weekday visit, very nice/capable bartender doubled as waiter. -- Not a lot of indoor tables (all low-top), which gives a cozy feel. Only one large table capable of seating a party of 6-8. The rest of tables seat 2-4 (though easily room to fit 5th chair/wheeled-chair); technically kid friendly, though not geared to children. Yes, bar seating (high-top, with 1 bigscreen TV on golf channel). -- Check out the larger than life paintings (5) on the far wall too! -- Final word: a MUST STOP for any gastro-pub foodie out with a friend/date!...
Read moreI've been here so many times and the service is always great and the food was great every time, except tonight. It has been a few months since I came here and ordered their chopped cheese sandwich. Food is usually amazing with perfectly cut and blended ingredients. The cheese normally melted all over every bite of chopped Angus steak. Today it was just watery and greasy. They put whole strips of thick cut bacon that looked like it had been boiled in a pot of water, just cooked enough to be safe, but was chewy and flimsy. Leaking fat and water. The chopped steak, normally cooked until a little crispy, was not drained and was bleeding water so badly the sandwich couldn't stay together. I received it sooner than I expected so I'm guessing they just didn't give it the time it needed. I still ate the sandwich.. after pulling off all the bacon. Unfortunately the cheese was on top of the chewy bacon so I lost some of it in the process. I probably should have said something but I didn't because when I arrived they were apologizing to the guy sitting next to me for something wrong with his order and he was a first timer. 4 stars until I can make it back to see if this is just a...
