I have been a long time customer of Szechuan Garden. However, on March 6th, my mother had food delivered to her house and there was an awful smell to it. After pulling the food out of the bag, it was found that the mongolian beef had a horrid smell to it. Due to our busy schedule, we were not able to call the restaurant that night, hence why we had it delivered. We ate what we could but were not able to even take a bite of the beef due to the horrid smell. The next day we called the restaurant and informed them of the situation and the lady on the phone rudely interrupted me and stated "we don't have rot food". I was polite and informed her that we have been long time customers and have never had an issue but would just like the credit for the beef that we were not able to eat. She kept yelling at me telling me "WE HAVE LOTS OF LOYAL CUSTOMERS, WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU!", "if you want to prove to me your food is rotten, you bring it to the restaurant!". Finally, we drove down to the restaurant. We asked the lady if she was the one we spoke to on the phone and she immediately got defensive "show me the rot, show me the rot!" My mother gave her the food and she refused to take it. The manager did not want to give us a refund of the food or give us a credit for the next time we order from them. Then one of their rude customers started yelling at both me and my mother, telling us to just get the F* out you fat B** (please note, this lady was at least 100lbs bigger then me). We were not trying to cause a scene and politely came in with the food as they had demanded. The manager wound up THROWING $10 at my mother and told us to get out. Needless to say, we will not be ordering from them again.
Szechuan Garden, you have lost a loyal customer due to your lack of compassion and professionalism. We will be contacting the health board regarding your...
Read moreVery rude employees, mediocre food, dirty restrooms. I gave this place 3 tries before rating and every time the staff was rude and something was wrong with my order. Two of my visits were to-go where I ordered sweet & sour pork, but when I got home I discovered that they forgot the sweet & sour sauce so I had batter fried puffed up pieces with tiny dots of pork buried somewhere in the fried batter. I returned to the restaurant and politely asked them for the sweet & sour sauce that they forgot to include. Their response was a bit strange as they acted like I was lying to them. They did kind of apologize and the gentleman at the counter asked my for my name and phone number. He stated that he would give me a discount on my next order to make it up. So only a week later I placed another to-go order. I did not mention the discount that the previous gentleman offered when I place my order over the phone. So I went to pick up my order and this time I inspected it. The younger rude person at the counter seems to be very put-off by this so I explained to him that they forgot my sauce in my last order so this time I wanted to check before I left. I ordered a couple of different dishes this time as the SS Pork sucked. This is when I mentioned to the clerk that they had promised to give me some sort of discount on my next visit and they should have my name and number on file. The clerk became very rude and said no, that is not true. I said excuse me? He went on to say that they always include the sauce so that is just untrue. Ha! I really was so shocked I didn't even know what to say. Especially since I had given them a $5 tip for my to-go order on my previous visit and they F'd it up and now this little A-hole had the nerve to flat out accuse me of lying! Unbelievable! A solid ONE STAR...
Read moreMy new go-to Chinese place in the Sacramento area! Easily the best. Went in for lunch today and had an unexpected feast. We ordered the lunch special (available on a Saturday!) for the Szechuan chicken (asked for less spice), and tried the pot stickers and General Tso chicken.
The portions of everything were bigger than expected. Definitely couldn't eat all of it if I tried, expect to bring leftovers home. The lunch special came with hot and sour soup, fried rice, and noodles, all of which were as good as it gets.
They nailed the less spicy part of the Szechuan chicken. The General Tso wasn't too much sauced and tasted great over steam rice. The pot stickers were crispy on the bottom and filled with meat, the house made sauces for everything were balanced and flavored perfectly. The Dan Dan noodles were very tasty and the broth kept the tender brisket-like meat warm and flavorful.
The restaurant and the restrooms were very clean. The dining room has a very nice ambiance and the food was served hot but came out quickly.
We had the opportunity to chat with one of the owners, Alice. See saw how much we enjoyed the food and took it upon herself to check in on us. On top of the service being exceptional, she explained that all the sauces for our pot stickers, the chili oils and even the noodles were made in house. They even sell their homemade chili oil on sight.
I wished I lived closer because I'd be there more often, but I go to Sacramento often enough to know I'll be back soon. Looking forward...
