Bland, mediocre diner food. My daughter and I both had hamburgers—the kiddie burger for her; the sourdough avocado burger for me. On the plus side, they asked me how I wanted my burger cooked, and the burger was in fact cooked as ordered, a perfect medium. Normally I'd prefer medium-rare, but this didn't seem like the sort of place that grinds beef in-house, so I figured I'd play it a bit safer this time. Anyway, that already put them ahead of chain restaurants like Chili's, where the "How do you want your burger cooked" question seems like someone's idea of a joke because you're getting it well-done no matter what you say. Also, the prices weren't bad. Unfortunately, I didn't find much else to like in my meal. The fries were obviously from a bag. The burger was bland and boring. The coffee was putrid. The whole place was kind of dirty and chaotic. I wanted to like FlapJacks, but I can't see going back anytime soon.

This place is a hidden gem. It was a cold, dreary Monday morning and I was leaving in the early afternoon. When I woke up I knew exploring Old Sacramento would be an option so I googled diners. This place popped up and I was eager to give it a go. Upon arrival it gave me so many warm and cozy feels. The place looks very diner like which I love. Also the staff were immediately attentative and so pleasant. Many people are stressed in the holiday season and the staff at FlapJacks were amazing and cheerful. The menu is extensive and of course I had to give the pancakes a try. They were amazing!! The bacon also was thick and delicious. I look forward to returning to Sacramento for another visit to FlapJacks for more delicious meals!

Great place for breakfast! Haven't tried lunch yet, but there is usually a wait so be prepared. It's worth it though. I have preferred the corned beef hash a few times. Really good. They have a nice crisp outside too then. It is ground corned beef but still good. Biscuits and gravy are good. Biscuits are cake like. Gravy is a good flavor. No sausage though. But an order on the side goes well with the meal. My husband loves their crepes with a blackberry filling. Great service and prices are great.
