We did not expect this. In a last-minute adventure to nervously try sushi in our small town of Cameron Park, we selected one of three that appeared in our Google search. Our nerves were additionally stoked when we literally decided to move our parking spot away from some parking lot tweakers. We didn’t give up. That would have been a huge mistake. The place was packed, so I took that as a good sign, and the wait was short. The first thing we noticed, besides the cleanliness, was the transparency of their displayed ingredients, and the chefs working in plain sight. Then we were able to see their craft, and it was artful. Our first surprise was their Special Nigiri section of the menu. It was unique, and reflected what I hoped to be from a chef whose creativity and talent exceeded the typical discounted sushi roll restaurant. Everything sounded amazing, so we tried as much as we could. Our waiter was knowledgeable, and helped answer questions related to things we hadn’t seen before (butterfish, Kaiware, etc). He was patient and attentive. Then the magic arrived. The special nigiri was had ordered came with a few compliments of the chef, and they all struck 10/10 ratings for us. This is a next-level restaurant, in a funky location. We’re thrilled we have it a shot, and the whole experience was far beyond any expectations we’d had. You must try Mikasa.

I'm just basing this on the fish. Tuna was spongy. I got the chirashi bowl and the pepperfin. The cut of the fish is thick but amateur. Pepperfin was ok, not great but not terrible. The chirashi bowl was underwhelming and the tuna is just an abomination. If you actually like sushi skip this place. Came in late afternoon to an empty restaurant. Service was fast. All staff were Hispanic, which I don't care about but please use better fish quality and improve knife skills. I make my own sushi as a homecook and I slice them better than this.

First time eating at this restaurant. Nice, clean and welcoming with a nice and friendly host who sat us right away. Our order was taken immediately even though their tables were all pretty much taken up with customers. We order a few rolls, miso soups, an udon noodles plate, and drinks. Rolls were great, very fresh and if great taste. We also order their sake flight. They were all pretty yummy.

By far some of the best, if not THE best, sushi within a 30-min drive of Folsom / El Dorado Hills. Yes the rolls are absolutely outstanding, well thought out with flavor and texture combinations, but what people sometimes overlook are the basics. Making consistently great sushi rice is what separates a true sushi master. These folks have it nailed, every time. This, along with their attention to detail on their "Special Nigiri" items makes them truly stand out from most all other places. Even the famous Mikuni chain cannot compete with the quality of what they...
