Neptune's Net — Restaurant in Rolling Oaks Ranch

Updated 1-18-2020: The fish was too greasy this time and the main reason I'm downgrading my review is that I discovered that they use SOYBEAN oil, that's one of the worst kinds for health, ok it's fried food anyway right? actually there are much healthier choices, and better tasting. Oh well, it was a disappointment to learn about that but at least they were honest about it. It a fun venue but unfortunately until they start using better oil, I'm not coming back.

1st Review: OK this is my first time and I’ve been meaning to go there for a while but it is rather out of the way all things considered. I had a fried fish sandwich which was a definite five star but I substituted the fries for coleslaw and that was probably a mistake.

The sandwich was perfect really the fish was such a generous portion that I actually had to eat some of it separately because so much of it stuck out of the sandwich ! Very generous indeed 👍🏻 and the bun was fresh with little toasted sesame seeds on it. Unfortunately the coleslaw although it was fresh and well prepared was just not tasty, it didn’t have any flavor I was surprised. I never had coleslaw like that. Looking at it it’s like the kind of coleslaw which has a sweet flavor but it was like the coleslaw was watered down. It should have been with a creamy light dressing.

That was my only negative the parking is incredibly easy the service is very friendly and quick, you do have to order at the counter and pick it up but frankly the prices for the value are right on the money and I would go back for sure to try some...

Just drove here from the Valley specifically to grab some fish and shrimp lunch while unwinding at the beach. I was ok with the wait in line in my car due to the COVID constraints (totally understand, and the guy taking my order was even apologetic which I appreciated), lucky for me it was slightly later lunchtime on a weekday, but....

The huge issue I have and am very disappointed by, is the quality of my food when I got it. Someone brought it out from the kitchen as soon as it was ready, so I was excited that it should be hot and fresh when I pulled over across the street to eat, but I was soooo wrong! The fries were really cold and limp, the fish was over cooked and dry, and the shrimp was really cold as well. Fried foods don’t taste good at all when they have been sitting, which is evident of my lunch experience today.

I truly get their situation of doing their best to adapt the business to be COVID compliant. But there are plenty of other businesses who are making it work while still serving fresh hot food to their customers, who don’t have the luxury the Neptune’s Net has, where a customer can wait in their car right outside the kitchen’s back door to receive fresh hot food! It’s really insulting to be served this meal, after paying $34.00 with tip for it.

The one thing I will say positive about the experience today, the staff I encountered were all very nice and were working hard for the customers! Thank you for that guys!

Please do better with the food quality for the next customers,...

Ordered the Neptune's Net sampler for about $50. It comes with a portion of all the fried seafood that they offer from shrimp to fish and many more. With one of the best ocean views for a restaurant, Neptune's Net is a classic establishment that has been there for a long time. Personally for me, there was a scene in the first fast and the furious where Paul Walker and Vin Diesel and they're Supra racing Ferrari. It is one of the most classic lines in the movie.

I would not recommend the sampler overall. Although you get a taste of each of the fried food and it may be an experience, I would hope there are better dishes than this. Not to say that it was terrible, but I rather have other dishes for how each of the items in the sampler was. There was anything special to each of these, it just tasted like fried food. Possibly a change in seasoning, marinade the food before frying, or even saucing the fried foods might be an alternative.

The interior and area is a complete beach vibe given it is right next to the ocean. One of the best views for a restaurant. There is also a short walking trail in front of the restaurant where you can enjoy a leisurely walk to digest some of that food that you ate.

In summary, I am uncertain if I would visit again. It may only be to take visitors for an experience...
